hi!! yeah, it's been ages!

i'm doing ok; the weekend that just went by i presented a paper at a humanities conference in college. the presentation itself went well, but because of health stuff i wasn't able to make it on time and they had to change the order of presentations just because of me :mccry: that felt really embarrassing even though it wasn't my fault, because they didn't know that.

i'm not getting time to read and when i am i'm reading a ton for class; right now i'm reading 'the hungry tide' my amitav ghosh for class. phew, it's long. (the way he writes makes it seem longer, lol.)

what about you?

I'm good! Still working full time. Today was picture day and it was a big to-do. Plus, it's Friday the 13th. So of course it was nuts.

But other than that, pretty good. I bought an Ancestry DNA kit. So I'm basically going to find out how white I am.

other'n that do you know a lot about your family history? that stuff is always interesting

i'm having end semester exams rn :mcdead: halp
it's going to be ages before they end and we have holidays
will i make it

finished reading hungry tide, began arundhati roy's 'the ministry of utmost happiness'
it's going really slow but i'm trying to make the time to read a few pages before bed every day
(it's better than going to sleep right after working on my laptop so)
how did reading the harry potter series go for you?

I know that I'm related to an Irish Duke. The 10th Duke of Roxburghe.

But not much after that. My biological father's side is a mystery.

And I got to the 5th book. I haven't picked it up in three months *sigh* XD

No summer off for my job. I’m with the school age kids who need a place to go.

And I love it. It’s just finding the motivation to get up and read it again. College killed my reading for fun thing.

i feel this. so hard :mccry:
i'm going to read a bit more of the ministry of utmost happiness now because it's like 40 mins to bedtime but
i don't really want to?
and it's not just that my brain knows it's for class
it's reading in general

and what's even worse
college killed my writing for fun as well
like i churn out words for my assignments
and then i physically can't write fiction, or rp, or write fanfiction, or even the shortest journal post
it's like when i churn out the words i'm killing them
:mccry:

Role playing was the only way writing stayed fun for me. Mostly because it wasn’t graded and it didn’t have a due date or anything. It relaxed me

i wish it were the same for me :mccry: it was a real refuge back in high school when nothing i did in school involved writing anything other than answers or problem-solving

i've bought some books for the summer. i have a lot of homework for the summer too but hopefully i can get back into reading for pleasure.
