because it's not just physical pain, not having freedom hurts me too but she doesn't get that. oh well. the other tradition she didn't follow is the sari ceremony that we have to do after we start menstruating. but it's silly; my mother and grandmother agreed not to do it for me because they think periods are taboo, and they're all judgy about others who decide to do it
@Julez the explanation they give is that it stimulates pressure points. that's also why married women are supposed to wear bangles (pressure on the wrists)
