Admin have more backend abilities and such. We're front-end, so we don't see that, so to us, yes, mods and admin are very similar. Devs are almost entirely backend

I have seen bots. Saw a batch last year. Ashe is correct in that once they're alerted, the admin are really quick to eliminate them

Yeah I suppose.

I wonder how bots just come. Like they just randomly appear.

Someone had to program them
And make likely spoof emails to verify with
And then program them to post. Said recent batch wasn't even coherent
Just spam of # and @ to make incoherent posts of @@@@@@@@@@##@####@#
They didn't last long and their evidence poofed outside commentary

Ah is that how it works? I never really understood how bots were created lol.

Same. My understanding is that bots are just very, very bad programming that serves no other purpose than to be extremely annoying, with also a touch of testing a system's security measures to see if they can hack into a site and steal information or just been an asshat and destroy the website because some people have no lives or sense of morality and just revel in pointless destruction.

Emails spoofs are 9/10 scams to steal passwords and financial information one way or another, like viruses, ransomware, and fake websites that capture login data. I have gotten SO MANY bad emails at the office this year. It's a royal pain trying to tweak my email filters so as many as possible get returned to sender with a rude message. I particularly hate the losers who spoof MY email when they send me garbage. It's more insulting than anything to suggest I'm dumb enough to fall for an email sent from "me" when I know I didn't send it.

sooooo many email spoofs. i just delete them all lol.
and phone calls too! i'm glad we have call display, when there's an unknown number, they sometimes call it as "Likely Fraud" or "Likely Spam"...lol. so we literally ignore those. that and those from Diabetes Canada bc they're ALWAYS calling about getting donations.

I don't answer any calls so I don't get any calls
It's weird cuz if you answer a spam call even to fuck with them somehow you get more of them

I do have two missed calls from the Netherlands tho. I'm in the States. And one from 2018 from Russia
And from a few years ago a spam caller that I ended up blocking. Sorry Patricica Wopper, despite your name being auto-itentified I don't know you

One of the few side effects that are good of having a landline still....
I have mine set so it doesn't ring in the house at all, it goes straight to the answering machine, which plays out loud, and everyone who has my number legitimately knows they have to start talking on the voicemail so I have a chance to pick up when I recognize their voice.
All the spam calls and robo-calls self-filter: they automatically hang themselves up when the answering machine message starts playing.

Saves me a lot of trouble!

Well, that, and the phone number in question has been in the family for about 60+ years now, so that's a lot of time for word to get around that it's a useless number for marketers.
