I'm only fluent in English right now, though I am working on trying to teach myself Spanish. I hope to be fluent in over a dozen languages before I die, so I have a long way to go...
I'm trying to decide if I want to learn Japanese or Mandarin after Spanish. >> Mandarin is much more helpful on a global scale, but the allure of being able to read manga without waiting for the English translation, and watching anime without searching for subbed versions, is hard to beat.... Plus, I really want to go to Japan, and I hate being that asshole tourist who can't communicate with people around me in their native tongue. The last two countries I've been in I haven't spoken the language and it's awful. I feel like such an outsider.

Spent most of the day at my eye appointment, but luckily so,far everything is good. My retinas are attached good.. They might start working on my other eye soon.
I feel that same way about the mangas and wanting to travel and speak the language..i also kinda wanted to be able to watch the dramas without having to read the subtitles

I'm lucky to know English. XD I'm trying to learn American Sign language, but I'm usually too busy or something to work on it.

I'm actually trying to teach myself ASL, as well. It would come in handy, with how often my hearing acts up and how often I go non-verbal. Though, the latter happens very infrequently nowadays, the I still have weeks of near-complete deafness followed by normal hearing that pop up out of the blue, and sign language would really help me communicate with C during those times. Heh.
I've been highly successful with teaching myself how to read lips over the past few months, which helps a lot! Though, I'm clueless once C switches to Spanish. Just another thing to grind, I guess. There's no rest for the weary!
I thought I was doing pretty good with Spanish lately, but nothing reminds me how far I have to go like listening to ASMR in Spanish. x.x Once people start whispering, I completely lose it...
I figure, if I learn over a dozen languages, I'll be able to speak to almost anyone I meet. Especially with how many people speak multiple languages.
Don't know English? How about Spanish? Mandarin? German? Japanese?
French? Arabic? How about Russian? Swedish? Finish? Italian? Let's try Portuguese. No? How about Korean? Cantonese? Eventually I'll stumble upon SOMETHING someone recognizes. ^^;
Besides, I love languages. They're so lovely. And speaking another language completely changes your outlook on the subject.

I used to know the entire alphabet, but years passed and I forgot it. I used to know German, but now I can only do a few words here and there.

I would love to learn sign language, but all I can say is thank you.
The problem is that the standards are different in all countries and for me that would mean having to learn it at least twice.

I'm French, so I speak French (obviously XD), then German (which is awfully bad, I can barely make a sentence but I can understand pretty well), then English, then Japanese.

Not sure if I can say awesome, German came from living next to Germany, English came from the Internet and Japanese from living in Japan and being frustrated.
Besides, you're more awesome than I am :p
Seriously though, the key to learn a language has always been for me to make it a part of daily life.
