We party too (well we party for everything lol) I guess it big cuz it like the only holiday not so religious attach to it. Like xmas is consider a holy day and so is Easter but Halloween isn't as connected. People in America like their freedom on religion for a reason.

As for religion. I'm living in a very unreligious region. Like 80% or something of people here are atheist. Soooo. All holidays seem pretty unreligious from here. But I know in other parts of Germany they are very serious about their religion and Christmas is not just a gift exchange.

My cousin was in America for half a year and he said you should never ever mention being unreligious there because then people start to treat you like something is wrong with you. So he lied all the time and pretended he's Christian.
Nobody will ask you for your religion here. It's a somehow private thing. So I don't really get this obsession anyway

Yea, we got weed farm in Northern California since you can grow weed legal with a license. But that just CA and not the other 49 state so don't try it there lol
