You jut need a well ventilated area.
But I find if you boil something, but want it to not boil, a gas stove cools down straight away, but an electric one takes it time. (and after you finish omg it stays hot for ages .___.)
*edit because I forgot to say...* I don't chat to my neighbours either, but my parents do sometimes

Like my stove, we have vents and a fan above it, so we don't need to open a window :3
