Our insulation should be fine, but we have giant windows/doors that take up the whole side of one room. Facing in the opposite direction to the sun, so we get no warmth in from them and the glass is really cold. Plus I think the sealing might not be completely right on them.

There's gaps/spaces in our back door, so I thinks that's why the downstairs is never a warm as it could be. My room is over the garage, which often effects the temperature it will be. It's raining right now and feels almost frigid and I'm out of long pants, however I refuse to do the laundry before Saturday night /Sunday Morning... I'm too much of a creature of habit. It would ruin the rest of my week (not that I have much to go...).

are there blinds or curtains in front of the window inside?

also if the sealing isn't right then that could be it.

A big window sounds nice. So you don't get sun during sunrise or sunset? :c
That sucks.

We get plenty of light and we can see the sunset, but the light doesn't come directly in. It's at an angle. So for example, when we had a succulent right in front of the window, it grew really strangely because it wasn't getting enough light there.

We have curtains. Last year I ended up putting old clothes as a draft excluder along the front of the window which only helped so much. This year I bought a draft excluder but it's not as thorough as the clothes were :mcheh:

Just one more reason why I want to move :mcheh:

It seems a funny waste to put the wall of windows away from where you'll get sun....

well, unless you live in a super hot climate, but doesn't sound like that's the case.

It's an apartment block, so the windows basically face on whichever side of the building you're on XD we also get the wonderful view of a car park.

... although I can't lie, I kind of like that. Working from home all day and then being able to look out and watch people walking around doing their daily lives does lower the loneliness factor a lot XD

Ahhh, I'm glad it works for you then. I am so glad I don't have to live in a big city! On the other hand, I have been thinking lately that I might end up taking a boarder, so that's a different sort of people-crowding than a city. Pros and cons to both, really.

Where would you want to move, if you could?

Oh, we live in a really small town right now. Sometimes too small because people have that country small-mindedness about them. But I don't really want to move anywhere bigger because it's already difficult for me to walk from one side of the town to the other, and I like having everything in walking distance.
The only things I want to change are a) be closer to London so it doesn't take me so long to get there, and also maybe move us into a lower price band for the train tickets, and b) get a house instead of an apartment. We need another bedroom so we can start a family.

Wait how can it be a small town if it has a building big enough to have lots of apartments in it, so many that each one only faces one outer wall??? Surely you don't get that sort of enormous structure outside of a city!
