@JellyBrain: I grew up with both Mangas and Comics and I love everything (except for a few specific styles, but well...).
As a child I read Sailor Moon at the same time as Elfquest, Tintin, Asterix and Obelix and Superhero comics. Whatever did not run fast enough and got caught by me xD

I started with Sailor Moon and Elfquest as well. Followed by Neon Genesis Evangelion and some other Anime and Manga.
When I got older and Germany finally decided to sell some american Comics, my interest grew for them. My view of great art and stories got larger. I surely love them both

I grew up merely with disney comics, then mangas and then marvel comics.
Guess its the same as Jacobgrey has. I rather like the semi and realistic style.

Some animes and also cartoon are waaaaay to much over the top for me.
Does someone can still remember or knows crayon shin chan?
He was funny yes, but it was drawn sooo bad, like south park bad.
On the other hand there was Oh my goddess! And this was beautiful from the very beginning!

Well it's not that the artist can't draw anything else, it's more that those shows use a cartoon style, like it's stylized weird on purpose to be funny though I agree it's not that great to look at lol

I've collected manga and western comics, I like a little of both specially Watchmen and Hellsing ^^ I can do a more realistic style like this, but I like simpler art nowadays (one example) and stylization and drawing from imagination is more challlenging and interesting to me than looking at references to draw realism.
Nowadays I mix all the styles I like so when I want something cuter it looks more manga and when I want something more serious I go for realism.

Just for the case I got you maybe wrong.
I dont wanted to offend someone, because of usage whatever kind of style.
Sorry for if I made a weird entry that might have looked like that.
