Ok, right, so most of the petticoats I saw are definitely too short, as I already expected. I'll have to search a bit... Most of the ones on that site seemed to be 40-50 cm long, and the skirt says it's a little over 60 (depending on size).
I also thought that a bell shaped one would probably fit with the skirt :) The a-line vs bell shape is a general petticoat/hoop skirt thing, I already figured that out when I was searching for hoop skirts for my ball gown. Where I already found that I'm definitely more of a fan of bell shaped ones :)

Thanks for all your help an explanations :)

It also depends on how volumous a petti is, as the skirt will obv be lifted more with a big volume petti and the distance between the edge of the petti and the skirt lessens etc

No problem, I love talking about lolita related things c':

Right, one should take that into account, too... Maybe I should just go for one of the adjustable ones :D But I don't always like the shapes of those, depending on how much they'e shortened or not, it changes a lot...

I don't like those myself either, if anything I personally prefer to have 2 kinds of pettis. I have one that's a good brand for them good poof coords, and then I have a bunch of casual ones that I can layer according to my poof mood c':

tbh if I notice I have a petti peeking I literally just hike up or fold the waistband of my petti

Makes sense :D
I found two that don't seem hopeless on my lolita dress, could I have your opinion on them?
First one: Less bell shaped, but with 58 cm the length should be pretty good (the skirt has 60 or 62 cm depending on which size I decide to order, not quite sure about that yet). No reviews and a weird note about the fabrics not necessarily being the same as in the picture. Should that worry me?
Second one: Clearly bell-shaped and quite poofy, but maybe too short? It's only 50cm. But on the other hand, it's pretty cheap and has some positive reviews. Although it also looks like lower quality fabric just judging by the pictures.

Decorative lace and pretty fabrics mean nothing to me personally when it comes to pettis, they're not meant to be seen after all ;P

The best pettis are either organza or cotton or a mix like the second one you linked. Judging from the reviews and the pics shown in those, I would say you would have to get 2 and layer them to really get a decent shape going on and for that money it's better to go for a more expensive but long-lasting good petti. You can see in the right column, that A-line petti? Now that is a good poof, though the shape is obv not good your skirt. But that is a good amount of fluff that you know it'll bring your skirt justice and let the shape of your skirt show fully etc.

The best brands for petticoats are Aurora & Ariel and Classical Puppets and Melikestea, with the latter being where I got my best petti. I don't recommend them if you're just going to dabble and hardly really wear a petti though, maybe you could get some real cheap ones and layer them instead if you like? ;o

I see :)
Thanks for all the info!
Maybe I'll just look for some cheap stuff on amazon, I was pretty surprised at the wide variety of petticoats and hoop skirts when I looked there for the ball gown. I actually got one off there and was pretty happy with it (although it is a floorlength hoop skirt, so not all that comparable, but still ;)) - and that would be easy to order, no additional account on another site needed and stuff...
If I don't find something I like there, I can still look for the good brands you mentioned... But yeah, I'd rather not invest too much into it for now, since it's hard to judge how much I'll wear it. And layering would have the additional benefit of giving me the option to wear just one for a mildly floofed variant, if that ends up looking somewhat decent, which would be nice, too.

Yeah I really recommend you take your time and don't immediately throw all your money on things you may regret c':

lolita is an expensive fashion, rather do some good research than go in with the thought of 'must have this and that and must be the higher priced things because those are automatically the best' etc

I gotta say my Melikestea petti is a beast and I love it, but for a beginner its just not necessary at all unless you really want to build a wardrobe o;

Na, I'm not planning to build a full lolita wardrobe, I'd just like to boost the odd skirt or other when I feel like it ;)
And do that super pretty green skirt justice, of course, because I do think I must have that ;)

I already found some reasonable looking options on amazon... But there's a lot more still to look at. Unfortunately it's really hard to search for the bell shape on amazon, nothing I tried really worked, so I'm just scrolling through all the petticoats and looking at everything that looks nice on the picture :D

Tedious, but I reckon there is way worse things to do that online shopping ;P
