Yeah, I mean, I sometimes do that, too, but that doesn't necessary end up with me studying any time soon :D

Mh, setting times sounds like a good approach, too, but I think it wouldn't work quite as well as setting goals within the works for me. Because I tend to do things like read 2-3 slides, make a post on KofK, read a few slides again, put a new material to melt in Baldwin's cauldron, read some slides, ... and then if I'd just count all that time as spent studying that wouldn't quite be true ;) But recording these frequent switches wouldn't really work either.

It only feeds procrastination more than anything, same as saying 'I am going to start at 1pm! and then at 13:04 they're like ok I'll start at 1:30pm or sth' c':

its always better to find what works well for you personally ofc. I treated study time as full focus study time, so say I told myself to get 3h of studying a day I could split it up into 3x 1h, but those 1 hour slots would really be full focus studying, no kofk or FR inbetween ;P

Yeeeah, I'm not so good at that. At least not when just reviewing slides :D When I'm actually writing something or solving exercises, I'll automatically forget to do stuff on the side after getting into it.

I just got the twenty slides done and did some more browsing, so now I have a question for the lolita expert again ;)
What does jsk mean? That's something I see a lot on the dress listings and I just have no idea what it means :D

You know, if you're looking for stuff to wear under corsets, sometimes if you look at folk costumes you find blouse-y shirts that go really well underneath and work pretty well with lolita styles (usually they just have special embroidery around the collar and maybe cuffs, so the lower part of the shirt is undecorated and can be covered up nicely.

I think you should be able to find plenty of usable shirts/blouses, some of my own blouses are undecorated at the bottom. I do need to find more cutsews myself actually but I already have a lot coming my way so no more shopping for me haha

Ooops, completely forgot that this is actually your sales thread that I'm hijacking for shopping advice and not the raffle thread or the old contest thread :mcblush: :D

Thanks for the explanation!
Some of them look to me like they'd be completely fine to wear without something underneath though... Like, I wear tops and dresses with small straps all the time - and they don't look very different. Is it just because for proper lolita style you'd have to add something underneath? Or is the jsk really a hint that it doesn't work without something underneath due to the specific cut of the dress?

Akili, that's a pretty good idea actually! (I'm not actually looking specifically for lolita styles, just for things that are decorated at the top but plain at the bottom in some kind of style that might look nice with a corset)
The question is then just, where do you get such things?

Errrr, I have a closet full of them which I'm terrified to wear because they're all two or three times my age, which tend to accumulate when Elders move in with me and start handing me things ("Dear, you should dress nicer, don't you want to find someone special? Here, try this....").

So.... maybe estate sales?
Or, wait!
Better idea!
See if there's a folk-dancing group (or international folk-dancing) performing or social, doesn't matter, remotely near to your area. I bet any one of them, if you reach out asking about costumes and clothing, you'd ALWAYS find at least one person who really loved that stuff and would adore a chance to bend your ear (another funny phrase) about the trials of finding the exact authentic outfit and where they go and what they do to create or buy or trade for the nearest equivalent.

That's exactly the place to find an enthusiast, and enthusiasts are almost always so very happy to find a new audience to talk with about what they love, I bet they could DEFINITELY hook you up with a number of possible places!

If you wear a lolita jsk without a blouse or cutsew underneath it it is not lolita c;

which doesn't mean you can't do it, but your outfit won't be lolita and you can't call it such. Lolita has rules, very basic but still if you don't follow them you can't call yourself a lolita so to speak. One rule is that it is a 'proper' fashion, bare shoulders are kind of a no-no ;P

though there are people that go for a no-blouse look, but its seen as experimentation and it has its sides of people liking it and others going nooo that's not lolita! etc haha

I can and definitely do wear some of my dresses casually without a blouse, but I won't ever say that I'm wearing a lolita coord (coord is outfit/coordinate), because of the blouseless thing.

Same with petticoats.

also this thread has seen its fair share of chatter and off-topic filling, go right ahead :P
