Yep, the whole site has definitely declined.
It's true that it's easier to earn money now. I still don't get as much from knuffels though haha. I usually end up forgetting about them for days on end, and it took me a long while to save up to get the two lava lamps I have. Most of my fps comes from the market now. Also I don't think I'm spending as much because the market isn't as active as it was before, when I would constantly be having to decide whether to buy X, Y, or Z because the auctions were all finishing at the same time.
I mean, and then this thread happened XD

Hahaha, yeah, market did slow down a lot (or maybe I just have more items now so fewer of the auctions are actually relevant to me? Hm...) but this thread manages to make me go broke anyway :D

I'm not sure about the centering in cliques. I mean, yeah, in one thread there's usually a specific group of people that hang out there, but I do meet different people across the different threads I do hang out in. But yeah, activity could be better in general :(

Well I don't mean cliques as in Mean Girls style haha but more from an outsider pov I think there's threads that are always active and in the same forum others are less so or dead. It can be daunting for a new user I think to join in on the more active threads cause they feel like its always a pack of regulars that have carved their place there and made it their spot to chat.

I don't think I've ever used the market much o':

Ah, yes, I see what you mean now. That's probably true... Although at least the threads I'm in are usually happy when new people show up and join in... But yeah, we've discussed that specific mismatch of perceptions already :D People be shy and stuff.

Oh, I used to always have a really long watchlist on the market! I was always trying to decide what to bid on and what to buy outright, and what to wait to buy outright until auction xyz was over, hoping it wouldn't be gone then... Things like that :D

way too complicated for me! xD

then again I've always had this sale thread, so for me personally I just didn't see the need to switch some business over to the market o;

Yeah, I mean, if you're not all that interested in buying items, you wouldn't need to do that anyway :D

I personally think for selling the market is a lot less work than keeping a thread organized, but on the other hand, you can't negotiate prices with people and it's all very out of your hands. That's why I have some items that I really wouldn't want to list there, even though I might be open to selling them in theory... I just keep them around for trading against items I like, since I don't have a selling thread, only a buying thread :D

I just prefer a more social approach to selling c':

selling on the market is less personal, just not my thing. I like to use the market as a pricing tool but that's it. At times I've sold a few fc on it but I now also prefer to do that in thread

Honestly, I'm glad you do it in the thread, I'd never be able to get all that stuff without you doing holds :mcblush:

I'm almost ready to take some more items, btw, but I want to earn a bit more food to set aside for the collector's corner contest prizes (since I'm hosting this week and I put some "your choice of items from this list" kind of prizes, so I don't know exactly how much I'll end up needing) before actually doing the trade. Since I would feel super bad if I had to scramble to raise the food to actually send out prizes and make my winners wait in the end...

totally understandable, you know you can take your time c;

and yeah wow, holds are so natural for me that I didn't even think of that! Again so impersonal imo, like if you were interested and needed just a bit more fp or a payment plan/hold you'd have to pm the user about it where here you just post about whatever you want c':

also chatting which in turn gives you more fp so only win win here! :P

Doki, you can start a trade for the rest of the items on hold for me! I finally collected enough food :mcglee:

I've never really had enough items to start a selling thread, or at least, I didn't have items to spare or that I felt I didn't need so I could sell them off. I think I sold FC once or twice in the market, but it was a one off thing. (As in I don't remember whether I sold one FC or two, but I put them on the market together at the same time.) After doing that that one time I decided I'd definitely prefer to start a thread if I wanted to sell FC again.

(What happened is, it was during inflation because that's around the time the apple and cupcake functionals were released. I wanted food to buy a bunch of those. So instead of using the FC I bought for TT sets, I decided to sell them for food. However, since it was inflation time I was confused about how to price the FC, so I put them on auction instead of putting a buy-now price. I put the starting bid lower than what FC sold for before inflation, so I thought they'd only be priced over what FC used to sell for, by a relatively smaller margin. They sold for RIDICULOUS prices. And while I could certainly use the food, I felt guilty since I'd unwittingly contributed to the inflation.) I've stopped feeling guilty since, though, when I see FC priced at literally a million food on the market. Mine sold for around 65k I think, and I thought that was bad lol.

Anyway, I've never had FC to spare since then, whatever FC I get I usually use for myself. But if I ever want to sell FC again, I'll definitely do it through a thread. At least I can talk to people about what kind of price makes sense.
