I remember when they really were based on the individual item prices of a TT set...

back in the very beginning fc would be 8k because a set had 8 items and 1k was a lot cause posting was pretty much it in terms of food gathering c':

some months the sets would have items that were perceived as worth more so it was then widely accepted that for that time fc were 9-10k, as something like wings or eyes/skin etc was priced at 2k instead of 1k xD

But yeah, we have a lot of ways to earn food now, so it makes sense that the value of it drops. I mean, items go for higher and higher prices too... I don't think it's so much FC getting more expensive as it is food losing its value... Which is probably why Firn is so desperately trying to create food sinks like the unique knuffel.

I think there's also just less people donating, and consequently less people selling their fc to keep the market and prices stable :c

That is probably a factor, too. It also leads to the newer TT items just being rarer and thereby increasing the prices of them, too...

I do see a lot of people just adding every set that comes out to their wishlist by default. It's sad that there's so many people that go through every month and every update being able to buy maybe one or two sets from the shop and always having to add all the other colourways or sets to their wtb :c

Hm, for me personally, I feel there's so many sets coming out that it would just be unrealistic to try and get all of them in and in all the colours on top of that. But then again, I can also be quite picky and there are often sets or colours that I'm really not interested in at all, so maybe that's an easy stance for me to take. I usually just want one or two colours of any set at most, it's very rare that I want more and there are enough sets that I don't mind skipping or that I just want one item from which I can then try to get separately at some point. Although recently that has become so difficult (people asking for a FC for a single item from a pretty recent set a lot) that if I really love the item, I'll just buy the set and hope to make a profit with the other items I don't really want to keep later on.

a lot of people could think like that, leading to overpriced separates and also items that are nearly impossible to find after the set is gone from the shop because so few people got the whole set and its one of the generally lesser wanted items.

Imagine having like a top or tail or sth from a tt set that only recently went out of the shop. its weird how those are already so hard to find for some people!

I think the ones that should be more difficult are the generally more wanted items, no? Like, if most people got a set for the top, then the other parts of it should be possible to find, but the top itself pretty much impossible.
I think my main fault is that I never get around to actually listing those items that I buy with the plan to sell them anywhere -.-
I only go through my inventory to see what I might sell maybe once in a few months. And then for some items I hold on to them because I think I'd like to have some nice stuff still to trade directly for items that I'm looking for... But then I don't check the trading subforums too little. I should go and do that more often, maybe update my buying thread's for trade section more often as well...

I have no real want for any items myself, I can make a whole avatar out of common shop items if need be c':

but I did obv like to collect in the past and I'm still reaping the benefits of that haha

but so many of the older items are so hard to find for some now cause people buy only one set, only one colour they like and then they hold onto that set and people that join later have so much trouble... I wish there was more trading in general, items switching hands so to speak y'know?

maybe I could try to start up the set buying and selling separates thing, but I don't know if I could keep it up for long haha and also def not along with my other idea of just selling fc

I see what you mean, yeah. It would be nice if there was generally more trading happening... But that's really difficult if people barely if at all manage to get enough FC for the sets they really love. :(
Mh, I actually don't know what would do more good - selling people FC directly or buying up some sets so that it gets easier to obtain separates again. If it was easier to obtain separate items for food, people might start selling FC for food more, because they need the food to buy the items they like instead of hoarding their FC to be able to get any of the TT items at all. But no idea how it would really play out...
