Haha, you'd have to learn a loooot of Japanese before you could translate manga for yourself They like to use rare kanji and words that aren't in a standard dictionary and you're like....'err? @.@' and then you have to research online a whole bunch or get help.
If you want to learn Japanese though, the first thing I suggest is kana :D Hiragana, then katakana. The longer you have them in your brain, the better, and knowing them well will make everything a lot easier once you start taking classes or studying words or whatever.

Not officially, nooo. But I hosted an exchange student and we still talk and send presents back and forth and stuff so sometimes there will be a manga in there and I translate that
