Well, are there any phrases you feel comfortable enough to share?

Probably the really basic ones XD

I'm actually having a hard time keeping a consistent speaking style because you know how nihonggo has different levels of formality? I'm not well versed in that D:

Well, you kinda have an idea of whether your style is more on one end or the other though, right?

O namae wa nan desu ka & Hisashiburi is a few that I can think of.

I do but I'm not sure what the wording is for that kind of style is the thing. So I usually just play it safe and be extremely formal.

Uhhh...

"What is your name?"

What is "Hisashiburi?"

It's what you say to people when you haven't seen them in a while. It's kind of like "It's been a while"

Ohh. Well, do you know how the Japanese sentence structure works? Could you explain that to me?

Ah, that's really confusing. It's similar to how the Chinese sentence structure works.

Uhhh so if you want to say I eat apples, it'll come out as

Watashi wa ringo o taberu
I an apple eats

So it's subject-object-verb.

And then there are sentences there that are kind of like phrases. If you want to say it's cold it's just 'Samui' and if it isn't it's 'Samukunai'.

Ah, yeah, not familiar with the Chinese language beyond a handful of words.

Ah, I see. What about "wa" and "ga" and "ja" and other connecting terms. Which ones do you use when?

Ga and wa aren't interchangeable particles because if you switch them for each other, they usually mean different things. I'm not exactly clear with the rules on using ga and wa either though XD

From what I know, you use wa to denote the topic of the sentence and ga for the subject of a verb.

So Watashi wa Julianne desu and watashi ga Julianne desu are both acceptable but they're used in different contexts?

So if someone asks Who are you, the response is Watashi wa Julianne desu. But if someone asks Who is Julianne, the response is Watashi ga Julianne desu.

For ja, it's like a shorthand term for de wa. De wa is used to denote cant or inability.
