Well, I didn't take it as offensive, but the point that you think being tactless a lot is okay bothers me.
As someone who seems to insult people without meaning to, I've had people jump all over my ass a lot, and I don't want that to happen to you xD

I hate feeling like I only hit the hangouts when there's an event going around

There are 2 threads I post in nearly every day or at least every other day, all the other threads I'm only posting in during events because there is a bigger chance somebody will be around to actually talk with.

I post whenever I can in my own hangout. Recently in another one, but most hangouts I post in get posted in only every few days. Stuff speeds up during events of course 
If I post and no one posts after, I can always see that there are no new posts so even if a hangout isn't active, it's not a problem for me. It might even fall off the first page, and then when someone posts in it again and it comes back up I go reply. Of course I do prefer hangouts that are faster paced.
