I just noticed we can ask about bases here. I sketched out a base, but I want to know if it's acceptable before line arting/coloring it.
my base
Is my base okay? Is it in proportion?
I drew some knuffels on the left to show what the base would look like with items on.

the base looks ok to me (i'm in no way an expert)
the pose seems a bit uncomfortable to me though, i'd suggest rotating the head a bit to the right. but of course, it can still work depending on what you aim for

thank youuu for the constructive criticism. I will keep that in mind and change it a bit. (hopefully I remember to). I didn't realize it looked uncomfortable. :qstar:

By right do you mean the chibi's right or our right? I think if it's our right it'd give us a better view of the chibi's face, so that is a good idea.

i meant simply rotating the lineart of the head a little bit clockwise (to make it look less like they're looking down), but what you suggested also sounds nice :).

as i said, it depends on what you aim for in the pose - as it is now it looks perfect for the first example on the right. what you proposed above would suit the other two examples much better i think :)
(all of them look super cute btw, i'm looking forward to them!)

My Knuffel got rejected for "Wrong concept of evolution" reason. Pics here:

Any ideas what I could do to make it acceptable? I don't want to change too much since I'm happy with the results and I wouldn't want the final one to end up cramped up with details. Would adding underwear to phase 1 and cutting phase 3's hair do the trick?

Or maybe I could make 1. use her arms to cover herself?

I'd but a small strapless bra for the first stage with a smaller version of the round decoration and just a simple white cord for the lower garment that ends up making the skirt. Making the hair about waist length in third stage might also help, but I'd also make a small white hair band in the first stage, then get wider in the second stage, stripes in the third, then the decor like it has now for the fourth and have the dangle part in the fifth. I'd also make little wings starting to pop out in the third, small wings in the fourth and the fifth with the wings you have now. You can also make the skirt short in the third stage and then longer in either the fourth or fifth stage. But what might be better is start her off with a lighter skin tone and then slowly become dark like that, because as is to me its more like a dress-up than evolution.

First, your Knuffel starts out naked. Not only does this appear very much like you didn'T really come up with any good idea for the first stage, because your first stage is basically "nothing", but it is also not any kind of evolution to the second stage: Your Knuffel just dresses up. Add clothes to the first stage and make them evolve into clothes from the second stage.

Also, your Knuffel needs a lot more changes. It should be at least 3 big evolutionary changes per stage. Right now you have
Stage 1-2: No evolution, just dress up.
Stage 2-3: Hair gets longer, cloth thingy evolves (These are both good changes)
stage 3-4: Headpiece gets added ( Also, small changes: Blush and ankle bracelet, these are not enough as they are not very noticable)
stage 4-5: wings. That's it. at least 2 more big changes are needed.

I agree with the previous suggestion to make an inbetween step with the hair: Make it medium length in stage 3 and have it evolved longer in stage 4 and even longer in stage 5. That will already add a lot to the medium stages. Maybe even make the changes visible enough so you can keep the rest. But you really need to work on the evolution between stage 1-2 and 4-5.
