@redk Yes, the prescription sunglasses did cost more. It was worth it though. And some of it was paid for through medical coverage. I got them about 4 years ago and they are still in great condition.
(can't remember if I entered either LoL)

I can't wear sunglasses because of these

Have either of you heard of EyeBuyDirect? I got prescription sunglasses from there (tinted purple!) aaages ago, cost me like $20. Might be slightly more nowadays but still around $50. (Although my boyfriend has some kinda super weird prescription so his costs more than mine.) But seriously I don't know why anyone's paying opticians anything for glasses anymore. I pay them for the actual eye-exam because I have to, but then going and buying $200 lenses, more for tinted? INSANE.
EyeBuyDirect has everything ranging from cheap frames to expensive designer frames, and you can tint ANY frames to make them sunglasses. (They also have those transition lenses that darken in sunlight, but I'm cheap so I just get the cheap tinting. Whiiiiich I've just checked to see and only cost an extra $4.96 on top of the cheap $16 glasses I put in my cart to test. Aww they don't do the purple tint anymore. Still got green and blue but no purp. :\)
You can also upload a picture of yourself to virtually try on the frames (which is hit or miss depending on how you position your pupils, but gives you an idea of how the glasses will look), and if you absolutely HATE them you can send them back for a free replacement.
I sound like I work for them heh, but yeah they're great. I'm sure other sites do the same thing but I haven't strayed from them since I found them like a decade ago. I used to have ONE pair of glasses that I used for like ten years, then I lost them and went without for years, just enduring blurry vision, because I couldn't afford a new pair. When I found the site I bought like 6 pairs for the price of 1 in an eyeglass store (they get great BOGO deals and such), and now when I occasionally lose them it's not the end of the world like it used to be.
And now I make it my mission to tell everyone, in the hopes of someday DESTROYING THE EYEGLASSES INDUSTRY HA HA HAAA!!
(Or at least forcing them to lower their insane prices, screw you guys really.)
(Although you know what, I'm always TELLING people but never getting any of that referral credit that would save me on future purchases. UR DOIN IT RONG.)

thanks but the thing is I suck because I don't know my prescription but I have the site bookmarked now. their selection is limited because I can't have those rubber things on that's on the bridge of the nose because the screws come out (my glasses a screwless now, spring hinge) and they hurt. I also like color. Mine are blue only because they didn't a have red screwless pair. I like the floral patterns. don't remember seeing them in the physical eyeglasses store
