Ironically I've had a cat get stuck under the floor because it was chasing a mouse. Some cats are really good at getting stuck.
As for mice, part of the house I grew up in was a barn, in the countryside and over 300 years old, so we kinda gave up about mice. We did put out some poison once a year but we never tried too hard.
Also, I've learned since then that I would much rather have mice than cockroaches. Or any other bug really.

my mom was telling a story about the family of rats that live in the area. we live in this cluster of townhouses and i've seen rats here scurry about the small yard. my mom said she once say the entire family coming out for a stroll, like it was normal and like they were squirrels or something. XD like no fear whatsoever lol.
i'm tempted to get some rat traps. one was meh. an entire family? get 'em outta hereeeeeee.

Where you find humans you will find mice/rats and the likes.

My dad's house was an old farmhouse, like so old that it originally didn't have any plumbing whatsoever and had an outhouse. Anyway, being the dumb irresponsible kid I was, I used to throw food trash away in my room and then never empty it. I was only out there every other weekend so the trash would just sit in there. One weekend I came back and as soon as I opened the door a mouse jumped out of the trash bin and under my bed. My dad did not believe me. at all. I used to also hear mice in the walls all the time.
As long as the mice don't get in my actual house, I think I'll be okay. I've never seen rats in my area, but that doesn't mean there aren't any.

Yeah well i thought it was funny that rats were just walking out in the open, when i know there’s a lot of neighborhood/townhouse dogs constantly barking here. Like no fear whatsoever. XD

If they are city rats I bet they are brave. Not like I've ever encountered a city rat.
You know what annoys me. When someone empties the box but doesn't mention a WORD about it to anyone. So when I go to grab some envelopes from where we keep them, they are all gone. This isn't even the first time I needed to grab more envelopes and they are gone. Like at least mention it to someone. What annoys me is that he will grab the bigger size and waste those envelopes.

I caught a mouse at Home Depot once
Even the manager on duty that day was twitchy when she saw what I was holding
Raccoons hiss. They don't like it when you hiss back and stomp the ground, especially if you advance. This is my territory, you masked bandit. You no hiss at me

I saw the rats today! XD just literally chillin on the grass and garden area of our small yard. I wanted to get a closer look by going outside but my mom was like “don’t open the door!” XD

I like your mom's judgement.
My sister had raccoons on her back deck. She didn't realize it until after she opened it to let her dog out. They started hissing at her dog. I've been around baby raccoons that someone was fostering for wildlife rehab or something similar to that.

Baby raccoons are adorable. One tried to break into our house once through the AC unit because it was a window unit with a cheap accordion piece of plastic that covered the rest of the window. He tried to stick his little hands in between the plastic and window to pry it open. I thought it was cute. My parents were less thrilled about it.
