So I bet it comes out of the bun a lot, then. Do you have any good tricks for keeping it up?

It was a silly impulse. One of the few times I was off on my own, without family nearby, for a long length of time.
After the first year I was feeling pretty lonely.
So naturally I had to go do something to make myself feel brave and independent, and at the time to my younger silly self, it felt like the thing that would make the biggest statement would be that, or a tattoo, or possibly a drastic hair change. Only I liked my hair and really couldn't bring myself to do a tattoo, so that meant piercing my ears.
In retrospect, I wish I'd have just gone to visit the cousins more often. They weren't THAT far away, and visas were easier to arrange back then!

Oh well, can't change the past.

iono I don't use pins, hair doesn't like pins much.

I just use good hair ties. It falls out after a bit but eh.. it's just up for housework or when I eat.

I got my ears pierced as a kid.. but I only have a nose stud piercing otherwise.

Which I always recommend if anyone gets any further piercings, especially ears get it done with the needle. Not the gun thing, those can't be sterilized as easily as the needle.

Yeah, it's hard to give them enough of a break that they get a chance to heal...
it does look a little less angry than the first picture you took, though!
