I wonder how effective it is? I hope Firn (and/or Starkad) have access to site statistics so they can see.

More food was being generated by the site than is being used up.

This eventually devalues food.

So for instance if you used to sell a fairy coin for 30k and there is a lot more floating around the site, now you can ask for 90k instead.

Over time this builds up into a big problem.

Firn created the Unique Knuffel Auction as a way to reduce the amount of food on the site. You saw how much food it cost to win, right?

All that food is now gone from the KofK economy. It is out of the market.

It will take a long time for that much food to be created again.


So it is a "drain", because the food is 'going down the drain' -it is going away, and the overall amount of food is lowered.

Yes, but what there is more of is food.

So lowering the price of food in comparison to everything else is not what you want.

say I am "selling" food, right?
For this example, what I am selling is 1 million food.
And the price I set for 1 million food is 10 fairy coins.

When there is MORE food around the site, I need to "lower my price" so that people still want to buy my food.

So now I am selling 1 million food...
and the price I set is only 6 fairy coins.


You see?

(The cost of fairy coins went from 100k food to about 167k food. Because with more food around, the food is "cheaper")

It's essentially inflation, within the confines of a site/game currency.

I think prices are around about 90k each at the moment.

Please don't focus on the example as much as the principle behind it! I'm sorry I'm so bad at explaining!

I usually have them at a lower price because I want people to be able to at lease afford them. I don't like when people are sad

But do you understand what I meant by talking about the unique knuffel auction as a food drain? I don't think I explained very well. Ah, maybe someone else can do a better job.



Turning the subject a little, sometimes it amuses me to try and figure out how much it would be to get all the for some of the older knuffels. That would be a real food drain! If some of the older gens were offered for sale for I bet they would be very popular. They could be very expensive and a lot of them would still be sold, surely!
