Helena looked up at him when he said he hadn't been with anyone. "You haven't been with anyone?" She asked as the first thing. He was ancient. "But you are old?" She said. "And your face. You could get anyone." She didn't understand. He was handsome, there was no way she could deny that fact. It was no wonder this Marie had fallen for him. She might have done it too, if she had just met him randomly. "And what is that about not being interested in people you read the mind of?" Kyle could just not read them, right? He could respect people enough to not read their mind, right?
"You don't read my mind." She stated and looked away. "I mean, I'm glad not to have you in my mind all the time, but I just want to state that you can make it so that you don't read peoples' mind." She said and looked at him. "Why am I so special?" She said and moved closer. "Is it because I am forced here? Or are that you are trying to charm me? Or because you pity me?" She liked her privacy, but it almost annoyed her that Kyle went out of his way, when clearly he didn't think twice about reading other strangers mind. He had never read her mind, other than the few times recently. She knew that much.

((I'm going to make a assumption about something Helena thought previous the the RP, let me know if that would be wrong and I can fix it.

))
Kyle coughed a bit, feeling awkward. Not that Helena's reaction was unusual, though some of her reasons did amuse him a bit. "Well, uh, it's not really a problem with finding someone interested, it was more an issue of... timing?" He said, sounding unsure. "It's not really that I'm not interested in them if I read their mind, it's just... I often find out things I'd rather not know, really." Kyle said, pausing for a moment, obviously thinking before adding, "Plus my...
brother decided to sleep with anyone it even looked like I was getting along with. Which made things... well, I'm sure you understand. It's a bit hard to continue down that path when something like that keeps getting shoved in your face. Repeatedly." He looked like he was remembering something he rather disliked. "The reason I didn't just choose to not read their mind is because I already know, and even if I didn't it's not like I don't know it would happen, so..." Kyle shrugged. "Plus, even if they don't there's generally some ulterior motive behind their approaching me. You know, what with the prestige of marrying a high ranking noble and all."
Now it was time to explain why he didn't read her mind, just remembering was greatly amusing. "Look I-" Kyle chuckled, "Well, I'm not pitying you, but I guess in a way I'm trying to charm you?" He looked amused. "Honestly, it's because I found you interesting. You may not be aware, but generally I don't extend such... courtesy to the woman my parents bring to meet me. It wasn't until you actually arrived and I caught your first few thoughts I decided to meet you like... well, like a normal person." He ran his hand through his hair. "I mean, when you're reading someone's mind, you know what they want you to do, what they like, dislike, etc. You can't just get to know them. Be yourself. That sort of thing. Well, I mean, you can, but..." He shrugged, obviously unsure how to explain this properly to someone who didn't have his ability. "Anyway, when you first arrived I remember you thinking-" He paused, trying to remember, "something along the lines of how you hated the idea of marrying a... stupid, puffed up noble idiot?" Kyle looked rather amused by this. "Something like that. Hadn't had that thought pop up before." He chuckled again. "Thought we'd get along, or well, I wanted to anyway." Kyle smiled a bit awkwardly. "Hoped?"

((I think it's fine, so just keep it there. Helena would definitely have thought him to be an idiot. I'm going to assume a few things too, so feel free to also edit that, if you find it wrong.))
Helena gaped. That was the reason? Some stupid thought she had when arriving. "How could you ever assume we'd get along if you heard that thought?" She didn't sound like she didn't want to get along with him, but more surprised over the fact that Kyle hadn't taken offence over the thought. She hadn't known Kyle had the ability to read before his parents mentioned it at dinner.
"I hated you when I got here. I hated my parents and yours even more. Hated that brother of yours that ... " she paused, " ... Kept trying get close to me." She paled slightly at that. He Kyle's brother ... Had he tried having sex with her? Just to piss Kyle off? She shook her head. "I was lucky that the servant kept coming to stop him, but he was very persistent." Then she realised something else. "You!" She said and pointed at him. "You send them, didn't you?" She half glared at him and then crosses her arms and huffed. "I could have handled a creep like that, you know." She said. Stabbing that bastard in his foot with her heel, would have shown him he couldn't mess with her. She had never really seen it as him trying to flirt, though. Just as another dumb noble trying to befriend her for personal gain.

((Nope, that's perfect. :D))
Kyle was having trouble not bursting out laughing at Helena's face. He managed to repress it to a chuckle. "Well, we at least had the same opinion of nobles. Plus," He added more seriously, "I wasn't interested in marrying someone without a mind of their own." Almost every other woman had gaped at their house, or hoped he was handsome, or something along those lines. Not that he would have dismissed someone out of hand for something like that, it was the fact that they usually ended up not thinking of much else. The ones that did... well, they had other ulterior motives he found even more distasteful. Kyle might have been able to marry one of the woman from the former category, had he been forced to choose, but he doubted it would have worked out well.
Kyle nodded at Helena's comments, he could understand why she hated all those people, and twitched when she got to his brother. Yes, he had been doing that, and it hadn't been very fun to listen too either. Honestly, it'd taken all his self control to not head right over and simply punch his sibling in the face. "Oh, I'm sure you could have, but well..." Kyle ran his hand through his hair awkwardly. "it was more to stop me from doing something. Besides, I only did it when he was contemplating being-" He paused again. "-more... physical with you." Kyle coughed awkwardly, obviously wishing to be rid of this train of thought. The main reason Kyle never accepted his brothers requests to visit was because he really couldn't stand him. It wasn't his attitude or anything, though that didn't help much, it was the things he would think about while around Helena that often resulted in Kyle having to resist seriously injuring him. "He's been known to push things a little to far."

Helena was glad Kyle was still laughing. Or happy. Whatever. She had made him happy. This qas atarting to become a big get to know you thing. She looked away and then back at Kyle. "I have never been fond of the idea of marriage." She said and shrugged. "I was never given a choice. If I didnt marry you, I waa going to marry someone else." She said and played a little with her hair. "I mean, it's not that I hate marriage, its just... I want to be able to chooss."
She lookee at him. "Not that you can do much about it." She said and shrughed and gave him a smile. "I was angry at you for a time, but I did realise that you was as much forced as me. Getimting married to a kid wouldn't be fun at all.." she looked away.

Kyle nodded. He understood that type of mindset, he was of the same opinion. Not that he wouldn't have been able to put it off, he had for quite a while, but there is only so long you can go without getting married before people start really looking at you weirdly. There is a point in time where if you're unmarried people start to wonder what is wrong with you. Especially if you don't at least have someone around. At that point you don't really get a whole lot of options before you're forced into something. So, he'd kept his options open, allowing his parents to set him up for meetings, hoping that maybe he'd meet one he liked. And he had, so he'd jumped on it. Never know when or even if you'd meet someone you like that again.
When Helena looked his way he smiled, shrugging. "Sorry about that." He seemed a bit amused. "I mean, I did get more choice then you, I could have refused, which was more luxury then you were afforded. However, I'd already decided long ago if I meet a girl who I liked, I'd accept. Didn't want to risk never meeting another like that, you know?" Kyle chuckled a bit. "Hope I wasn't the worst option you had." When she mentioned she was a kid, he paused a bit. "Helena," He started, "you're not a kid, you're just a bit young-" Kyle paused suddenly, looking like he realized something. "-but how young I... don't actually know. How old are you?" He was curious, though it did feel a bit odd to ask after so long, not that he had another point to learn it. "No one every actually told me, they just kept talking about how young you were, like it was some sort of incentive to marry you." Kyle knew exactly why they had said that, but he didn't think Helena needed to know her parents, and his, had expected her young age would allow Kyle to mold her to his wishes, something they believed would make him more likely to choose.

Helena looked at him. She them looked away. She was young. She knew most nobles were other a thosand years old and she hadn't even reached five hundred. "I'll be 403 next June." She said. She looked down at her hair. Vampires normally was seen as young adults at the age of 500. She had still a long way to that. "I ... I know that I am young." She said. She fidget nervously around and looked anywhere than at Kyle. "But ... "
She bit her lower lip. "I'm ... glad it is you and not your brother I am going to marry. Can't say much about other noble idiots, since you two are the only nobles I have met, that are not married." She finally let go of her hair. "I just ... " she didn't really know what to say.

Kyle laid his face in his hands, running them up to his forehead. He'd known she was young, but he'd assumed she was at least 1000, 500 at the least. Well, at least he knew now. That just made his age even more awkward. He was much more then twice her age, he was over five times her age! He removed his hands from his forehead and ran one of them through his hair. Helena's next comment gave him something else to think about. "I'm glad no one is marrying my brother." He said very seriously. "I wouldn't wish that on my enemies." Kyle smiled at Helena, as while she hadn't actually said he was a good option, she certainly implied he wasn't a bad one. "Thanks."
He couldn't really ask for much more, and it was good enough, for now anyway. That just left the awkward part where he told her his age. He was sure she didn't know, as it wouldn't have been something they brought up. Kyle ran his hands through his hair a few times to prepare himself. "Well, since I asked, it's only fair you know my age as well..." He paused, sighing again. "Please don't hate me for this," He said, jokingly, but his tone said he might be a bit serious. "I'm... 2684. 2685 in a few months." Kyle rubbed his temples. "If I didn't feel old before, wow." Saying it out loud made it worse somehow. Five times her age! Five times! "I don't know what my parents were thinking. I mean-" He said quickly, "-not like I regret it or anything! It's just a bit... odd. Sorry you're married to such an old man."

Helena looked up at him, when he said he was going to tell her his age, but the age itself made her gape in shock. 2684? He was .. She knew he had been old but that was ... What had her parents been thinking. She was just a child! She hadn't even reached 500 and she was marrying ... She looked down at her hands. "I ..." She looked at the window. Then down again. "It's not your fault." She said in the end. It really wasn't Helena was old enough to marry, and it wasn't like it was illegal to marry if there was a 2281 gap between age. Vampires weren't that picky about it, since they didn't age like humans.
Still, it was a little uncomfortable that she would get a child with this man, if her vision were to be trusted. She bit her lower lip. Then she made a shrug. "It's not like my parents would have been able to find a noble, who was rich enough for their high standards, to marry me of to that was my age." She said and shrugged. She should just be happy that Kyle wasn't an asshole or thinking with his dick, like his brother. Kyle had manners and he respected her, even though, she was far younger than he was.

Kyle ran his hand through his hair again. "It's probably a good thing they came to my family first." He said, "The only other unmarried nobles of similar standing to my family are... less then favorable." Generally, nobles of a high standing married young, unless they had some reason to stay unmarried, usually not a good one. At this point, Kyle just wanted to get off this topic, as thinking about their age difference made him not only feel old, but really unnerved. Standing up Kyle brushed himself off and glanced at Helena. "So, shall we go find that book of yours?" He asked, running a hand through his hair again. "Unless you want to go do something else?"
It's possible she did, but he couldn't think of anything else to discuss. He was still stuck on their age difference. 403, she was only 403! It's not like vampire marriages don't contain age gaps, but this sort of thing usually get's weird looks. Well, at least he didn't look old, so unless someone knew them both intimately it wouldn't matter, but still. Now he felt creepy. If she had been older the age gap would have been less odd... well, he might have actually refused if he'd known her age, but then again, who knows who she would have been offered to next, and most nobles weren't as, well, respectful as he was. Someone like his brother might have accepted, and that was an even worse situation. They'd just have to learn to live with it.
