Well, it's clearly a very well-developed and elaborate set-up so that fans have a lot of material to work with. So that's impressive!
It just is a little intimidating to me, to try and figure out.
Have you been following the DC ones for very long? How much time did it take you to sort of mentally sort through all of it?

If you're not into it, then it is intimidating indeed. One of the reasons I'm not digging into Marvel and DC other than Teen Titans and maybe Batman once in a while. There's just too many versions of everything.
I remember digging up things for Teen Titans (I was watching the cartoon version in middle school so maybe about up to 8 years ago and loved them so much), and I found about 2 or 3 storylines for origins of Beast Boy and couldn't figure out which one is the very first one. Then few years later I got to digging again, and realized there are alternate universes, like idk, Earth-2, Earth-52, New Earth, stuff like that (I think the comicsare marked with which universe they're from? not sure). Then it really clicked why I could never pinpoint one origins story for him. 'Cause there's more than one xD Sometimes it's minor differences, sometimes bigger. Once I found some comics snip that showed Beast Boy used to have a pet cat with his parents, but I could never find that info ever again XD
I usually did my research for fanfictions that I was writing about them, so I had a clear purpose. Plus it was on-and-off. I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to actually dig through all of it :D But it's definitely easier when you're really into a character or a story.

DC and Marvel are very complex universes, indeed..
I don't know much about DC, but a little about Marvel.

I think I might just give those universes a pass for now, then. I don't really have anyone I socialize with a lot who is into them either, so it would be a solitary time consumer and I already have plenty of those! KofK among them....

Back.
Okay, fantastic four sounds vaguely familiar. Is it a band? Early rock or something like that?

Sounds like the dynamic duo and a miscellaneous couple....
although I'll be honest, I don't recognize any of them.
