I've never had a persimmon, so I have no idea how they taste. But I think Kaki is a cool name for them. c:

I've only tried them once, very sweet with a soft texture but not something I eat regularly.

I agree, I don't like them too soft, just a little soft :)

I eat them pretty regularly in winter, which is when they're sold a lot here. I just slice them into small pieces and eat them with some yoghurt for breakfast :)
They taste best when you have a hard time peeling and slicing them because they are so slippery. If they don't seem slippery, they can still be good, but not at their peak yet (at least in my opinion).

Maybe if I see one around here (I dont think I've seen one in person). >.> They dont sound bad at all. I'll give it a try. I'll keep my eye out whenever I go shopping.

mem, did you know the fruit under another name? I would expect them to be available in your area, no? When I first heard the name persimmon for it I had no idea they were just what I knew as kakis :D
Tora, I definitely recommend trying them if you get the chance :) They should not feel completely hard ideally, but somewhat soft to the touch. (Even though the peel itself is kinda stiff and hard but very thin, I recommend slicing them in quarters and then peeling them, you can pull the peel right off if they're soft enough or cut it away with a knife if they're still a bit harder)

Okay, thank you. I'll have to remember that if I get one sometime soon. c:
