I would rather go for the fruit-scented alcohol than the fruits xD

I'll leave you all to the alcohol..

though I do use rice wine vinegar for making fried rice dishes

There's probably no alcohol left in the vinegar though, right? It's just vinegar that was made from the rice wine, I would guess.
How do you use it in fried dishes? I've heard about cooking rice with it, but not about frying. Or do you just cook the rice with some vinegar before you fry?

I think it's mostly vinegar. Smells like it at least.

Alcohol fruits and fruit flavored alcohol sound great! Lol.

I don't think I've ever had a fig that was not in a fig Newton bar.

Well, if you live somewhere they don't grow, they don't travel well so I bet you'd only ever see them dried, in stores, and dried figs are really different from fresh ones.

(The whole fruit is soft, from skin to inner seeds, so there's no protection during transportation)

What's your favorite locally-grown fruit?

I looooove figs.

My favourite locally-grown fruit... Well.. I think it's grapes. Although they are mostly used for wine here.

I love figs as well, but only the really good ones. When I buy them here it's always hit and miss, somtimes they're not ripe enough, sometimes they're already a bit too old and start to dry on the inside. But when you hit that perfect spot... Yummy. Had some really good ones at the hotel breakfast in Straßburg for my birthday :)

My absolute favourite fruit is strawberries! Luckily, they do grow locally :)
It's not a coincidence that my mule is called Erdbeermistress (Erdbeere = strawberry in German) ;)

earthberry? I guess they do grow low down close to the earth!

I guess fig variety would make a difference, too. It's like apples. If you've only ever seen an "apple" in a picture book, and it was red, and then you go somewhere that they grow lots of varieties locally and you can try green and golden ones and the red-and-yellow-striped ones and taste how different they all are, it would be a very new/different experience.
So with figs as well, you have those black mission figs and desert king figs and the adriatic and kadota and lattarula and who knows what-all else. Brown turkey. Ischia. I don't know, there are lots.

Yep, exactly! :)
I guess the straw also just comes from the straw that one puts underneath because they grow so close to the earth that they'd be all dirty otherwise :D So the names seem really quite related ;)

Oh, I don't even know about different kinds of figs. The ones I find in the store here usually all seem like the same sort, a deep purple one. The ones I had at the hotel were definitely a different kind, they were a light green with just the faintest bit of red on them and they were definitely perfectly ripe.
