It was a borderline rag-mag from the 1800s and the only time I ever saw that particular method mentioned. Who knows why they picked 7? XD
My closest guess is that 7 is often considered a holy number in various faiths. Could have been a practical reason, but I'd expect that to come from something more complicated like kabbalah, unless they over-simplified it from a complex system and sneaked it into a dimestore occult book. The section of that book on determining a person's personality by the location of their moles was quite amusing.

Yeah, you use the original names on your birth certificates. When I tested married names and other name changes, it usually came out wrong.

Some of my identification cards still don’t have my English name lol. Just my Chinese name.

@Ashe: Yeah, that's what I figured, they took the 7 out of their ass XD At least that Zaharov/my grandpa talked about some blood/genes changes, which we can understand and it rationalizes the calculations.
