Yeah, I think that whole 7-11 thing was a stupid gaffe. We all have brain farts sometimes. Normally I don't care about them much....

But it's also really funny watching how twisted up Trump gets when people focus on the small stuff. Seems to really bother him. So that's pretty satisfying....

Anyway, today is the New York primary! So Trump needs 50% of the vote or more to get all the delegates he wants. He's almost definitely going to win, but Cruz and Kasich have been trying to keep him below the 50% benchmark by focusing on upstate New York (which tends to be either extremely rural or extremely industrialized, older, more conservative, heavily armed and a whole hell of a lot whiter than the southern part of the state--where NYC is) and by identifying and appealing to the limited number of Republicans living in hard core blue districts--groups that may number in the thousands, but still have delegates to allocate.

Trump needs a big win today. First of all, expectations are high and everyone knows that's a recipe for disaster in politics. If you spend all your time saying "I'm going to win 100%!" but then you only win 99% the story in the media the next day will be that you didn't do as well as you expected, and why is that? On the other hand, if you say "I'm going to win 50%" (even though, thanks to your private polling data, you know you're going to come in between 80-100%) and then you win 99% the story in the media the next day will be that you exceeded your wildest expectations. Which, as a campaigning politician, is the best story you could hope for.

Not that Trump is aware of this basic Politics 101 concept. Anyway, if he doesn't get the huge win that he needs it will damage the narrative he's trying to create that he is the rightful front runner and the establishment is trying to steal the nomination from him (which, I mean, they are, but can you blame them?).

Also--and maybe this is just the inner New Yorker I inherited from my Jewish immigrant Queens-based relatives--I really want to see New York hand Cruz his ass in a hat. I have not appreciated him campaigning through the deep south by using the phrase "New York values" as a code for "Jews and gays." And then having that be a bad thing that frightens his voters. Nope. Have not enjoyed that. Looking forward very much to NYC kicking his ass straight to Philly--let the City of Brotherly Love deal with his creepy melted marionette face.

Just throwing in my two cents as I pass by, while taking part of this current event (so don't expect to see me again)... He's most certainly lesser of the evil(s), so if I'd have to pick... Myeah... I'd choose him. He's no angel either though, but at least seems to have more brains in his head than rest of the ilk... Like I said, lesser of the evil, but still no angel... (if anything, those against him are going insane (and crazier) from what I keep seeing and hearing... Not saying anyone here is like that (or that everyone does that), thank you very much, since I won't bother causing myself a headache by reading through all that. Politics + personal opinions you know = Never good for anyone's health or their mental health for that matter... I'm much more disgusted with people talking about killing him and all the death threats etc... Not to mention if you hate him, taking it out on his supporters. Now that's where one has stepped over the line from being a good person to someone who should be put in jail. I don't care what the other person has done, unless it's some child molester/murderer, Hitler, actual terrorist, mass murderer etc... We forget too easily our own humanity and worst of all: see nothing wrong with it... No wonder the world is such a mad place. Hate doesn't get rid of hate, brings out only more hate and so on...). But all in all I'm not a fan of anyone, I don't support anyone, and what with all the rigged voting systems since Lord knows when, I never even bother with the whole politics voting anymore. It's just usually entertaining to watch that train wreck and the people who jump into that falling wagon each and every time (Obama anyone? LOL). Peace and out.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate you providing a counter-point to our discussion so far.

All I will say is that those of us who object to him most strongly are doing so precisely because we believe him to be exactly the kind of monster you yourself would take exception with--specifically a dangerous, unstable demagogue of the Hitler-variety. I say that not as an argument, merely as an explanation for why we're screaming so loudly.

Welp, Trump and Clinton won--no real surprise. Onto Pennsylvania, Maryland and Connecticut...and maybe one more? I'm not sure, but a ton of states are voting on the 26th.

And then after that the last big one is California, which has over 100 delegates available on both sides of the race. If things aren't decided before CA, I dunno WHAT'S gonna happen. I don't even know if that's ever happened before...

So the bad news is that Trump is getting almost all the delegates from NY. The good news is Cruz is getting zero. HA! That definitely satisfies my local pride.

Well I am glad that Cruz is getting nothing, but sad that the dick is getting them all.
I just hope something is deceided by CA. My god I don't want
him winning crap. My brain can't handle anymore of this. I swear
each morning it breaks a bit more than the last. I swear
too many people are losing their minds and no one is putting a stop
to it. Weird how we have so many shootings in America and yet when
someone badly needs to be shot no one does it. I usually don't say
that stuff >.> I need to rest my mind.

Great read all together though. I didn't pay attention to the NY
voting. But glad Cruz is down, that is for sure.
But I will never break it

Ya I know.

With the NY thing... Sanders is complaining about it and I'm not
too sure on what it is about. Like the votes weren't
right in some way even though he won. I haven't read into
it yet.
But I will never break it

Even though politics is a great interest of mine my time is limited so I'll do a bit of a drive by posting must as the above poster did in a quest for water.

I do not like Trump one little but but I will definitely take him over Cruz or Kasich. At his heart Trump is much more liberal than the other two. Cruz is a true believer in his own divine destiny and Kasich has done horrible things to his home state in the name of Koch Conservatism. Trump is swayable.

The only problem with Trump being swayable is that whatever advisors he ends up surrounding himself with will determine a lot of his policies and Supreme Court picks and so far he's picking ultra conservatives. So he still scares the hell out of me and I don't want anyone on the Republican slate.
