i was about to get the witcher game before i stopped myself :x i know i'd be just wasting money on a game i probably won't play as much

From what I can say, she is stronger (mentally) in the game and less selfish.
(But also, I don't consider the actress visually pleasing, so that might play a big part in that as well x'D)

I also don't know the books. But I have read that games AND series are different from the books in many ways.
