Woo, I hope Faris doesn't look like he has a beard; it would just be odd. Here are the two doodles I've made for the meme. The rest will have to wait until I have more time. :X

Drawing isn't my forté. I'm a wordsmith, and barely that. Though, I do color pretty well, I think... ^^;

I really need to get some OC drawings done, but I'm a terrible artist, and I don't like asking others to do it for me. ^^; I'm a lazy procrastinator like that...

Please do, if it's no bother. It's almost six in the morning and I've been after the blasted thing all night.

Haha, I love that word. I'm trying to write a poem for the first time in a while, and I'm having trouble. :qd:

Keep trying! Practice makes perfect! I look at some of my old drawings and hang my head in shame. I know I will look back at my current drawing and hang my head in shame yet again. And it's fine because that means I'm improving. :qwhee:

My problem is details. I get far too wrapped up in the details to focus on the big picture (no pun intended), and so I end up balking at the amount of work to be done, or doing everything so small no one can tell what it is.

Oh, I used to do that! I'd see anime and be like HOW CAN THEY BE SO DETAILED and then I'd try to do it with my blunt pencils. It's only lately that I've learnt that they use light-boxes to make their lines really tight so me working free-hand? There's no way I can make everything so detailed. So I've been teaching myself to let go and mellow out a bit.

Woo, I use the term wordsmith too, Aeri! XD And I am a better wordsmith than artist.

I've always drawn, but never with the same skill and passion as I had with words. I would try, and then my friends would kinda help add a little more life to my art. It still amuses me that I have some OCs that I can't draw, and yet other people draw them perfectly fine. X3 Here're two examples:

[My Damain] [Damian and his love interest, Tea (skirt), as drawn by Todacharm]
[My Rion] [Rion as drawn by Tinuu]

Aeri, wow, I just realized I should've known you were a fan of Celtic mythology by the "ae" combination in your name. XD That isn't a dead giveaway, but I've always seen the connection in it. One of my SNs (Aeronides) has the "ae" combination too. Oh, Mikael too, I guess. owo And my female persona, Kaera.

Btw, what sort of young adult fiction to you like? YA happens to be one of my favorite genres. X3

*dances around Aeri* I love details too! My RP posts tend to be a little lengthy... or is so considered by some. XD; I love love to put lots of thought and detail into my characters and world-building. Ocean is the same, and the details of her art is like whoa. XD

Sadly, I'm bad when it comes to drawing out the details; I can never quite get what I see in my head.

Of all these pieces of broken dreams

this one that scares and confuses me...

Looks like I must make a confession... I'm a shopohilic wordsmith too... Though my father calls me a graphomaniac, I guess it's the same here.

My being unable to get what I see in my head is not about details only, but about everything! XD
But I guess it's a matter of practice like everything else.

Haha! It helps to have a .02 lining pen too. ~.o
An ex of mine couldn't grasp the concept that someone who can color can't necessarily draw... Poor boy invested nearly an entire paycheck into getting me a sketch pad, blending pencils, sketch pencils, sketch pastels, smudge cloths and sticks, and one very expensive inking pen.

The pen and color pencils are the only things I ever really use. My sister and her (now) ex occasionally sketch things and leave them lying around, so I ink and color them in. Gives me something to do when I'm procrastinating my writing projects.

@Mika: Wow... Seems I hit a hyper spot with you huh hon? Let's see if I can pick that apart and reply,eh?

I have personally not tried to draw any of my own OCs since oh, 2000 or so. They were cute, but kinda kiddish, so I gave up. I can take a body/pose outline and fill in all the clothign and details like nobody's business.

This one is done by my younger sister:

She got the art genes. I just shape things with my words, not my hands.

I love the 'ae' dipthong. It makes words look ... prettier for lack of a better term. They seem more mythical or archaic with it. "Gaebrien" is another name I use a lot, simply because it confuses people.

Most anything really. I prefer something with magic/mythos; vampires, witches, dragons, faeries and elves... but, I will read sci-fi and modern "teen romance" if it happens to be lying about and I'm bored enough. I adore Holly Black, and Kim Harrison is growing on me.

My first ever RP experience was with a thread full of what I like to call "elite" RPers. They'd all been at it for years and were nearly immaculate. No one ever posted less than two paragraphs. Within a week, they had me fully trained, and for a solid nine months I was cranking out posts that were from five to ten paragraphs long. We relied mostly on detail because posting a photo with every post was just too tedious and it limited your wardrobe.

I know what you mean about never getting what you see transferred to your canvas. I have these elaborate, exquisitely detailed images in my head of my characters and their goings on, but I can't even doodle, much less convey the ideal from words to printed images. It's almost painful to even try because I know I will fail before I ever even start.

@Mika: I can't begin to tell you how much it cracks me up that you not only kept but used the word "snippet" in reference to my submission. It almost brought a tear to my eye trying not to laugh aloud.
