Amazing, congratulations, jacobgrey!! :) <3 Well done, dear!
Indeed, Alice, I agree with you on that... I decided not to buy books for now, I want to read the ones I own first..

Hmm, I might do some winnowing out, too, but of my physical books. Things are starting to creep back into two layers of books again, and that makes it hard to find the ones I want.

I also don't really like layering shelves. if I own a physical book, it's likely got a beautiful cover (otherwise I'd buy an ebook) and it'd be a shame to stack other books in front of it

I really don't use ebooks much at all. Really really rarely. So I've got a lot of physical books.
And I come from a family who loves books, so we pass them around a lot, and of course when someone moves the first thing they do is send a bunch of books out to everyone else in the family. One of my bookcases is just for books that are on loan, or that I loan out a lot, or are from the library, or someone left, the last time they visited, or that I pulled out to lend to someone, or that are being held for someone who is moving. It's only four shelves, but still. That one I keep closer watch on, but the other ones, the ones that just hold my stuff? They've been getting kind of messy, with books piled on top of other books and starting into a second row in front. Time to go through and sort and clean.

sounds like my family
before we moved to another country and left almost all our books there. and made the kind of exchange you described impossible
good luck with sorting and cleaning. something tells me your family may end up with some of the books in question

I know how you're feeling, I have bought a book shelf a while back and it is almost full again...

Yeah, I suspect most of my postage budget is going to go to sending books around this year, and I'll have to do email instead of real mail.
That's so sad, that you couldn't box up the books and send them to the new country! What a tragedy. I hope you guys were able to keep a few of your favorites, at least.
Julez isn't it funny how quickly they fill up?

some, yea. it's just that books printed more than X years ago require a special permission to leave the country. and it's a stupid number of years, really. like maybe 50 or 60. so, not even a 100, you know, but something very stupid. and we didn't have time for so much bureaucracy. so it's new books now. and my parents have mostly switched to ebooks for almost solely that reason. what are we going to do if we move again

that's because books are FAT!!!
