Many people take asexuals and all sexualities other than hetero as *clears throat*: a phase, a mood, a treatable illness (!), being a rebel etc. Society is still not really educated. It's hard to understand that someone might be built differently than you. Let's start with the fact that to understand another person you need an open mind and empathy. Both pretty rare imho. Ppl love to get stuck in their own beliefs and opinions and god forbid something gets in through that thick skull.
