This is the beginning of my digital art journey. Year 0.
Traditional Sketches and Rendered in GIMP with USB laser mouse.
“IcetheRockstar” Signature. Very little understanding of shading, highlighting or layers.

Year 1. I tried to do Chibi style. Lost my father.
I split the year into seasons after his loss propelled a huge shift in my art.
Sketches and rendering in GIMP with USB laser mouse.
Line art with Line Art vector layer in Paint Tool Sai.
I built enough confidence to sell my art on Gaia Online (Commissions and Auctions).
Switched between “Icey” and “IcetheRockstar” signatures.
I focused on improving Line Art, Hair texture and eyes.
Date of Death: August 24th, 2014

Year 2. I introduced my mini chibi style.
Sketches done in gimp, render in Paint Tool Sai with a USB laser mouse.
Line art using line art vector layer in Paint Tool Sai.
Received my first Huion tablet but it didn’t work very well.
The nibs kept falling out. Experimented in Medibang Paint.
Introduced my “Color Pop” & “Gradient Sketch” Art Styles.
I did my first draw it again Art Meme.
Found a more consistent way to render eyes.
I focused on eyes and clean sketches.
Used kanji symbol 氷- Ice for Signature. Added on π - Pi 3.14 for my birthday.

Year 3. Experimented with my Portrait style.
I received my first Wacom tablet.
Sketches in GIMP with USB laser mouse.
Rendering in Paint Tool Sai.
Line art with Line Art vector layer in Paint Tool Sai.
Some line art practice in gimp with wacom tablet.
I did a redraw of my first piece from year 0 (and another one that wasn't all that important)

I added my zodiac sign (♓) as a symbol to my signature.
My official signature is now 氷♓π
I had a mental breakdown midway through the year and didn't do much art for a while

Year 5. Year of the Mogbaby.
Had my first child as a result of the mental breakdown I had last year.
I focused on my self and my baby so I only managed to make 1 Art this year.

Year 6. I finally got out of that mental breakdown.
I achieved Affiliate on Twitch and did my very first emote.
I did my first background.
Sketches in GIMP with USB laser mouse.
Render in Paint Tool Sai. Line art with Line Art vector layer in Paint Tool Sai.
Used Wacom tablet to render hair mostly

Year 7. Year Of the Pandemonium.
I introduced my “Crayon Sketch” Art Style.
I also did a redraw of an old self portrait.
It was significant because it was the last piece my dad saw before he died.
Luckily I had bought an iPad right before lockdown.
I contracted Covid in June.
I became homeless with my child and partner
Sketched and fully rendered in Clip Studio Paint with iPad & Apple Pencil.
I focused on learning my new tools.
I also made a new signature / watermark.
I didn’t want to replace the old one so I just use it every now and then
on my personal art just because.

Year 8. Year of the Chonk.
Brought my second child into the world.
PTSD whopped my ass but I got my own
place after being homeless for nearly a year.
I started experimenting with faster, more efficient method of rendering.
Everything sketched and fully rendered in Clip Studio Paint with iPad & Apple Pencil.
Focused on faster turn around times and consistent proportions.

Year 9. I had big plans for October this year but my grandmother passed away.
Surprisingly, I didn’t spiral into a crippling depression
like when my dad died but it still fucked me up bad enough to derail my plans.
I did manage to make my first sticker design.
Everything was sketched and fully rendered in Clip Studio Paint with iPad & Apple Pencil.
I focused on better poses & proportion.
I also practiced Pixel Art for the first time.
