The interview made me laugh too! It was hilarious and endearing. I know older people in my life who, in their time, could take their resumes and walk into a workplace to ask if they were hiring (that's not something one can do anymore). That's charming in itself, but the added flourish and flavour of her walking into a secret agency asking if they're hiring spies is bonkers delightful.

Are you reading anything at the moment? Oh, and by the way, do you play any other sites like this one? I love virtual pets and avatar dressup, but I'd enjoy it if there was a community to go along with it. KofK feels like the perfect balance/combination.

Other sites to play on... I don't, no... internet for me is pretty much email, KofK, continuing education hours (for work), research station, and sometimes e-book reader/online comic reader.
That's about it.
Every once in a while, I'll get curious enough to look up a song on youtube and get caught for a while on that site.
But that's not really a site you "play" on like you do for KofK, lol, and certainly doesn't have a forum community like we have here.

What am I reading right now?
Well, our library did their annual book sale pretty recently and I took home 3 boxes of books, so I have been going through and reading little bits of everything that was tossed into those, sorting through them and seeing if there are any keepers, or if I'll end up giving them all away in the end.
So far the highlight is a book of folksongs that has actual musical scoring along with the songs.

I have progressed in my reading of The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax, and have come to the party scene. My day job has me stuck to the computer pretty much all day and I like to browse something fun during breaks, like Kofk. I like the sense of community I have here. Another place I have a sense of connection and online friends is Dreamwidth. It's like old-school Livejournal if you're familiar.

How did you find Kofk? Isn't it like a weary traveller stumbling upon a forest glade with a small settlement of shops and fairylike beings!

Three boxes of books is such a treat! And that book of folksongs sounds delightful. We lack libraries here, which is a pity, but I do pick up something secondhand once in a while, and I was able to acquire one of your recommendations:

Legible is all you need!
Wait, I take that back. I got handed a book once which was perfectly legible but smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and I couldn't manage to finish it, because the scent was too heavy. Had to give it away. I buried it in baking soda for a while to try and get rid of the odor but it didn't work, so....
Legibility is the main thing, though!
Welcome to Temptation made me laugh a lot. If you enjoy it, the female lead's brother has his own follow-up book called "Faking It".

I still have a copy of Ownself by Mary Calhoun that I got second-hand. It was falling apart, it's missing its back cover, but it had all its inner pages intact, so that was good enough for me. I worry about how delicate it is because it's a book I love. I wish people still did library binding here.

Speaking of books that weren't quite intact, I once came across a beautiful secondhand copy of the second volume of the manga Q-ko-chan. Its past owner had coloured in some of the pages. Unfortunately it was at that stage of falling apart that it had pages missing. It saddened me, because the pages the previous owner coloured in made it so special. Now I've got secondhand copies of both the first and second volumes of Q-ko-chan, but neither of them are that specific copy that the owner had made extra beautiful.
