It would, yes, but I think it still can be done... I may have fabricated my last post. I've never actually looked up a word with its definition alone, but I believe it can be done.

maybe there's a sort of reverse-dictionary online somewhere. It'd have to be digital, that's for sure. Or if you remembered the first letter...

If you know a little of how it is spelled, you can find the word and its definition a lot more easily.

Yes, that would be true! I typically forget all of it entirely, but if you can hang on to even a little, it'd be a lot easier to sort of retrieve the memory...

I get close to the word I want to spell, but when it comes to remembering it, all hope is out of the window.

Oh my gosh, I do that all the time these days, and certainly not for a lack of reading. Conversations between me and my husband can get pretty bizarre. "Do we have an ummm...gravy moving thing?" O_o "Do you mean Ladle?:" "Yeah, that's it!"
