The gold one is my favorite too. It is very special to me because it given to me for my bday the year I graduated uni and it actually has my name carved.

Oh, sweet! That's pretty cool that it has your name carved in it!

Boris how did you end up getting into fountain pens and discovering them to begin with?
Have you ever used quills? Do you have preferences for how to trim the quill nib?

I was given the jML Classic pen set, and one of the pens was a fountain pen. It wrote fantastically, and I fell in love with it. When it stopped writing, I looked to the instructions to clean them, but alas, the instructions were not clear enough, and the pen had gone to waste. Naturally, I still have it, and it is the first member of Cult of Boris! I had no idea where to purchase fountain pens, so I did not get them until this year.
I have never used a quill before; therefore, I do not have a cut preference.

Wait, the pen had gone to waste? It was not recoverable at all? How sad!

Well, it's more of that I can't contact the JML people because their site is no longer up, and I can't find any information about it. I could clean it, but I would still need to find out what kind of cartridges or converters it takes. They come in different sizes.

I did a Google search for "JML Classic Fountain Pen cartridge replacement" and got this
http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum ... ntain-pen/
which review talks about it and if you scroll down to section 5 you'll see details. I hope it helps, because it is sad that you can't use your first and favorite any longer!
wait, this one might be more useful yet:

(from the classic pen set, which is what you said you had?)

I've looked here, and while I have seen those, I am a bit hesitant on purchasing ink cartridges that have been mentioned, and I'll have to purchase them from another ink seller than the one I linked to on the first page of this thread.

Well, as it is you can't use the pen at all, right? Maybe if you have another pen that takes those same cartridges, you can try it by transferring it? Or if it doesn't work in the JML one you can at least use it in one of the others?

I know how to clean i properly, and I have the necessary "equipment" to do so. i just have to clean it, get a cartridge, and then see if it will write once more.
