My not-very-useful trick: going to the very oldest posts in the forums and looking at the profiles, and when I find someone who hasn't been on in something like seven years, I start a trade with them, and then add food or FCs into it to save them up, so I don't see them there and spend them.
Problem, of course, is that I know they're there. So I spend them anyhow and just get them out early before I've saved up enough for the knuffels I want...
