The next auction will be announced for sure, but I am not sure I should announce the winner? People might start bugging him/her about selling the extra Knuffel, even though the choice what to do with the extra should be up to the winner of the auction.

That would be a sad thing, especially for the effort Firn put in her.
Aren't the stages all shown on the auction page? Or are you referring to something else? c:
Yes, all stages are shown on the auction page.

Some general thoughts: I know not everyone is happy about these auctions. I knew this would be the case, because the first natural course of thoughts would probably be something like "How will I provit from this?" and then "I can't get the Knuffel, I can't gain anything from this at all - I don't like this."
But please try to keep in mind that with everything we add here, we try to improve (and save) the site for everyone and we have put a lot of thoughts into this and hope that this will be something everyone can benefit from.
As you can already see from the bids, there are quite a few users who have incredible amounts of food just sitting on their accounts and nothing to do with it. They have little motivation the be active, prices of some things like Fairy Coins are crazy, because such people basically have infinite funds to spend on these things. Long past are the times when a Fairy Coin would be sold for 10 or 20K in the market - Now there are people with immense amounts of food who can not only spend this amount on FC (and make them unatainable for users with less funds), but also, there is basically no reason for most users to buy Fairy Coins to re-sell them for food to other users. Most of the time there are no FC for sale at all - Because most people, if they donate at all, donate to spend their FC themselves. They don't have the need to get FCs to re-sell, as they have more food than they could spend. Whereas FCs started out at 10K they are now easily over 100K and that's insane.
We have a massive inflation problem that will only become greater and greater over time if we don't do anything against it and these Knuffel auctions are meant to take large amounts of food out of our virtual economy - something everyone could profit from in the long run as it's a way to fight inflation. So please try to see it from this site and consider that this is something that might be good for you! I don't know whether this will work out. Maybe people will lose interest in these auctions fast, maybe they will be too frustrated to bid again if they don't win an auction - It's hard to predict. But it seemed like worth a try to me.

If anyone has any other great anti-inflation suggestions, I always have an open ear and you can post your suggestions in the Feedback forum. I read every post there. (Please don't make any suggestions about this in this thread, as all posts here should be related to the auctions)

Also, please keep in mind that the winner of this auction gets more than one of this Knuffel, so there is a chance to get this Knuffel, even if you don't win the auction!

That's what I thought when I read the anouncement, that it's specifically meant to remove big amounts of food points from the site. Seems like it's going to work!

I'm also a little sad that these and future knuffles will be inobtainable for me, but it makes sense from the site's point of view to introduce something that the richest users will want to spend their funds on, to hopefully level the playing field a little.

Anyway, she's very pretty, nice work Firn! :qstar:

Unless you have plans to re-release these *unique* Knuffel at some later time (future auctions? different colors like the themed minisets at TT?) then many of us have allready been alienated as we're not going to win the auctions and the chances of us getting the 1 or 2 extras are equally slim.

Yes, it will pull a lot of FP outta circulation. I hope the possible cost is worth it in the end, though.

The idea is good but the starting bids are too high. This doesn't allow many a chance of winning any Knuffels in the auction. Sad.

The starting bid is 1000 Food. Lowering it would not make any difference at all. - No matter whether the starting bid was 10 or 1000 food, the current highest bid would still be the same as it is now. :mcheh:

This is something I'm sure I will never be able to participate in, however I can tell immediately this is a money sink for those users who do. Although I'm sure I'll never have enough money to bid, I'm not against the idea. The knuffle is beyond adorable. One of my favorite I've seen yet.

That's also what I've thought when I've read the announcement and seen the auction. I personally like the idea. My chances to get such knuffel are really slim, but it'll make other people spend a lot of FC, what should change market prices in a future, making other things more attainable. So I may not be able to get a knuffel, but I may be able to get a dress or a hat I've always wanted to get, because the prices went down. And they went down, because noone has so much FC anymore...

Also, if these knuffels weren't unique, people wouldn't be willing to spend so much FC. Who would have want to waste so much currency for something that will surely appear later for normal price?

I personally think people will pretty quickly spend these insane amounts of FC on first knuffels and then other people will be able to participate in it too. Though it greatly depends on how many such users there are...
Also, potentially problematic may be the situation in which there stays only one user with insane amounts of FC, because there will be noone to compete with him/her, so it will considerably slow down this process of FC purge...

Why do some people use such a small font size? It hurts my eyes... :mcdead:
