Thank you, Illyria. Bleh, super tired, but hubby had a sick day today and trouble sleeping tonight so I have to stay up two more hours and make sure he gets to work today.

And I'm a cheapskate, what can I say XD

Aww no I hope he feels better by the time he wakes up to make it in!
Heh I'm a cheapskate irl. And usually in games. I'm more of a 'hoard currency' type than to spend on anything....But then once I get an idea in my head, It's impossible to stop until I reach whatever goal I've set myself xD
So now I'm addicted to buying stuff. And I still blame you :mcmeh:

ha ha, I don't take game currency seriously. Real money is another matter altogether...

Wait if he had a sick day today, why does he have to go to work today? I think I missed something.

Illyria, today I mostly just organized notes from an RPG I play with my mother and stepfather. Nothing practically useful. But still at least progress in something.

Oh, I understand now Eva! I hope you get another call soon telling you that you got the job :qh:

It's just a role playing thing we do, there's no system or specific game, we made up a world and then characters and spent ages researching plate tectonics and weather and how a stable ecosystem would work and evolve given various conditions, and spent a few more years arguing about implications, and drawing maps, and then split up a generally-agreed-upon time-line and each of us fleshed out that age, (I mostly worked on the later ice age), and peopled it, and built things on it, and tried to figure out basic trading routes and production areas, and now we take turns telling the story while the others play random people in it. So if one weekend we go camping and play around in that time period where the vegetation pretty much went crazy and took over, and a lot of the people were wiped out with various allergies/toxins/molds/whatever, then sometimes we stumble across ruins from back before the big volcanic eruption, or if you play in the time after the ice caps melted down a bit and the water levels rose so high, your characters might stumble on an old map, and try and convince a captain to take a ship over where there used to be cities and go diving for treasure, that kind of thing.
It's fun, but there's an awful lot of notes.

I dunno what game you'd call that?

Mostly just collaborative story-telling/world-building.

Ah ok, It sounds really cool and a lot of fun! I don't know what you would call it other than world building? xD Does your world have a name? You could call it that if it does? I would love to play a game like that....but I lack imagination :qf: lol

It is fun! No name for the world, we couldn't decide and pretty much just had different peoples in different time periods calling it whatever we liked so there were too many names for too long, we never did pick just one.

"Imagination" -I'm not sure it really is that? More taking things we find or see or hear of and re-applying them in different contexts. Ha ha ha, any time one of us finds a new author we like or sees an interesting movie or plays a new game or goes to a museum exhibit or has a strange dream, you can usually tell because pieces will start to show up in the world.
Have you read "Digger"? The comic about the wombat who doesn't much care for gods?
After we found that, all KINDS of references to it started showing up all over the place, and we completely revamped one entire continent to have a different culture, because we loved it so much...

Well you still need imagination to be able to use the refs and apply them to your own world I think :qh:
And as fun as it is, It's actually really hard work making up an entire new world and giving it lots of features that make it 'It's own' You know? So hats off to you guys! I haven't heard of digger I'm afraid as I don't really read comics although I should as I always enjoy them when I do! xD
Have you all thought about maybe making the world into a book or something? :qwor:

Aww Eva, You could play with the hubby maybe if he is into that?
If I lived nearer to you, I'd come and play it badly with you :qlov:
