I've sent the link to the solar roadways off to everyone I know who is thinking about redoing their driveway, and every organization I know that has talked to the city in the last year about building permits, because that would make for some awesome parking lots, especially if we can find some grants to help underwrite costs.

The algae building, now I've looked at it further, is not a good fit for our area because earthquakes. Those huge tanks would make a MESS.

But the glowing plants? That link I've sent to pretty much every single person I know, because that could really be just wonderful. Line your walkways and driveways, line the public parks (yes I sent it to our city council!), see if I can't get some of the professors at the nearest university interested in picking up some of those maker kits to have the students fuss with them as projects at the beginning of the year, plant the things around the city (I know lots and lots of folk who would volunteer and help underwrite the cost to be part of a program like that) and then watch how they grow during the year to be part of the final grade, hopefully they'd come up with some good adaptations that would be useful every single year they tried... I've got to email the folk there to get more information, though. I'm not on facebook and the blog page was disabled but I need a lot more information. But the possibilities! I'm so excited for this one!

Wow, that is awesome. I so hope they become interested in the trees and plant some. Or even think about further experimenting. *__*

They don't have trees yet, actually. Just the rock cress. I'm just hoping that they don't need every possible plant you want to do this with to be ENTIRELY gene-sequenced first. Because that would severely limit the choices...

*blinks* I thought eating mushrooms was a reference to the MarioBrothers, with those little mushrooms that made them grow and the ones that gave them lives or whatever it was.

I think he did eat random mushrooms as a child. It was in a flashback episode or chapter...

I wonder how difficult it is to deliberately grow mushrooms? Like a little moss-and-mushroom corner in your garden.
