So for example, here's how it works:

I have 2 different plants.
I never fertilize them.
I water Plant 1 on Day 1.
I water Plant 2 on Day 2.
Even though I watered the two plants on different days, since I only watered both of them a total of one time, I'll get the same item.

For fertilizing:
Again, 2 different plants; let's say both only watered one time.
I fertilize Plant 1 on Day 1.
I fertilize Plant 2 on Day 2.
Even though I fertilized both of them only one time, since I fertilized them on different days, I'll get different items.
