Location: I sometimes wonder myself.
There haven't been announcements prior to any events on this website. I don't see why people start complaining now.

I suppose the best solution would either be to start sending notices to people or not have any more events with special items.

The event is already going, so there's not much the admins can do for you now. Complaining seems meaningless since nothing can be done about it now.

on sites like this its natural to start events for seasons like:

valentine
easter
summer (sometimes)
halloween
winter (sometimes)
xmass

so its just normal to check sometimes the month or season starts...
also i think if you are aktive here and ckeck the site twice a week something like missing an event wont happen!
AND this site is free for alot of ppl. to complain about an event that costs you ppl nothing.... sorry i think thats more than rude.

They have alot work giving us events so... say thanks and be happy >.>

Cassandra, I am sorry if you interpreted my post this way, because this is neither what I wrote not what I thought.

About your request to inform people about an event earlier: I agree with you. It would have been nice if we had the possibility to say "Hey, we'll have an event starting on the X.X.2009, so make sure to check it out".
Unfortunately we can't do this. Since you brought up the comparison to other sites - yes, other sites possibly might announce the date of an event earlier. But other sites also might have payed employers who get a time schedule and money to complete it. Unlike us, these sites might be run by more than two people, who at the same time happen to be university students, work in a supermarket, are personal assistants of professors, give courses at university and are scientific employees. With us going to university and having so many jobs to handle to pay for our living we never know how much time we have to spend working on this site in a month. We never know when we will be able to finish a new feature or an event. All we knew was that the event would be somewhen in October and we only knew the exact date of the event one day before it started ourselves. I really didn't want to announce an event and then fail to complete it in time.
The possibility of sending E-Mails to all users also doesn't work for us. I tried to do that when we launched the quests, but the mail server was overloaded with the mass of E-mails I tried to sent and it looks like we have thousands of users who have invalid E-Mails in our database, so we got countless failure notice mails in return.

We tried really hard to make this event as much fun for everyone as possible, but our means are limited.
We do not want and also can't compete with other avatar communities out there. So please consider that other avatar sites can do some things better than we can do simply because they have other means.

I always welcome feedback - positive as well as negative feedback, because it helps us to improve our site. But please understand that there wasn't any way to solve this better than we did with our limited possibilities. I also do not think that it was necessary to state your negative feedback in such a harsh way. We try to make all of this as nice for everyone as possible and we gain nothing out of all the work we put into this event. If people don't like it that's sad, but I think it's a bit hurtful to be criticized in such a harsh way for something I did in my rare free time just for the enjoyment of other people.

Yeah, I don't understand what exactly is the problem >< It just gets me angry to see ppl who always find fault in the work of other ppl... I mean, if anyone has a problem with this being an "unanounced event", why don't they try to make a site as good as this one and remember about every little thing, while having a life? It's so rude!
So, as I said before, you two are the best for being able to make this fun of an event while being so busy. ^^
Btw, about the pumkins, I viewed it in another way; while it would be almost immposible to get it with candies with the 2 other sets, you couldn't just give it like that (it's no fun o.O ), so you put the daily pumkin xD . I'm even suprised someone decided to blame you for not telling them about the event >> . If they couldn't see it was up the first 2-3 days, when would they see an announcment? Or do they want a special e-mail? I don't understand..

They appear at the middle of the page and they're image pop-ups, not window pop-ups. :3
