I'd still say give it a chance, I mean I'm not a fan of the style either, but the story isn't that bad and makes it easy to ignore the bad style.

I watched it with my bf, and we really enjoyed it. Maybe partly because we didn't know anything about She-Ra, so it didn't bother us when it didn't keep in line with established stories.
The character designs fit well in the new show. In the new show they are all teens, so I enjoy them looking more like teens than the old show.
