It was a brisk night in the kingdom of Aria. The streets of a small merchant town which resided in the kingdom were especially brisk. In the dead of night, nary a soul dared to stray in such a frigid onslaught. However, one soul was brash enough to be seen walking through the darkened streets. A young woman, with dark hair draped in a red cloak. She shivered, pulling the thin cloth tighter around her shaking form.
"Bum barry dun dun...~"
She stopped upon hearing the faint call. The gibberish was soft and lyrical. She looked around quickly, looking for the source of the melodious voice.
Her wide eyes darted around the dark courtyard, but nothing could be seen. Her knuckles went white knuckled as she gripped her cloak tighter. With one last look, she cautiously turned away and resumed walking; her pace quickened ever so slightly.
The only sound that could be heard were that of her own footsteps. They were dull as her flat boots collided with the cold gravel, but she swore that they were louder than before.
"Ya ya ahee yahee ya.....~"
It came again, that soft singing. She stopped again. A wave of uncertainty built in her gut. "Who's there?" She said into the darkness, horse at first. She swallowed, relieving her throat of it's dryness before repeating the question more firmly.
No answer came.
No bumbling singing, no footsteps.
Having enough she turned back around, only to lock eyes with a pair of burgundy ones. "And so they said, we'll take her child." The owner of the eyes said. The brunette gawked in fear, backing away. The scarlet eyes belonged to a woman with pale, almost white hair. "It's not what you think Rebecca, we only took him because we were worried about your mental sta-"
"MY MENTAL STATE DOES NOT AFFECT MY ABILITY AS A MOTHER!"
Pain.
That was all she felt after the fair haired woman's outburst.
She looked down with wide eyes. The hilt of a knife stuck out of her abdomen, held almost gracefully by a delicate hand.
"Gah-huh..." She gasped.
As quickly as it was lodged into her torso, it was wrenched away. "I will not let anyone, let alone my own sister, take my child from me." That once soft voice dripped with venom. Tears streamed from her eyes as she watched the brunette fall to the ground.
She looked away, turning on her heal.
Wide eyes stared after her retreating form. Blood spilled past her lips as she breathed her last words. The name of her killer.
"Rebecca"
You will do anything to have her child back at your side.
