Kayo looked up long enough to catch Chaos giving him an encouraging smile, which made him smile weakly himself. He should have known. Ruby and Chaos were incredibly understanding friends, and if they could understand this, their friendship could potentially withstand anything. He felt proud of having them as friends, but he still wasn't proud of what they'd done. At any rate, he was thankful that it was in the past. He then walked over to his sister and handed her a napkin to wipe her tears away.

Kira looked at Chaos with a look of wonder in her eyes. He was forgiving her? This easily? But her doubts slowly dissolved when she saw the look he was giving her. The expression that he used when he was insistent on making her feel better. She smiled at him. "Thank you," she said. When her brother came over and handed her the napkin, she looked surprised. "Oh!" she said, before laughing a bit and accepting the napkin. She really hadn't known that she was crying. She wiped away her tears and put it in her pocket. "I'll go check on Ruby, okay?" she said, before walking up the stairs to her friend's room.

Kayo watched his sister go up the stairs and sighed when she was out of earshot. "Quite a few secrets coming out in the past couple of days, huh?" he remarked to Chaos.

Chaos smirked and nodded lightly, removing his hands and looking over at Kayo once Kira left to check on Ruby- she had been up in her room for a while now.. The sudden thought of Ruby's behavior earlier caused Chaos to turn around. "Kira, wait!" He called, but she had already made it up the stairs and to her room.

The demon weapon looked back at Kayo, and hung his head with a sigh. He lifted his head and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah..there's one more thing.. There's a reason Ruby's been so distant today.." He murmured in a low voice. He wasn't sure if it was his place to tell him. Chaos probably wouldn't have known if not for figuring it out. "It's not really a secret, but it is need-to-know- and you guys need to know." Chaos explained, actually seeming pretty hesitant. Which wasn't like him at all.

Ruby sat up in her room, on the edge of her bed as if taking a break from packing up the books from her bookcase. There was some boxes along the floor, a few of them filled and closed while some others were empty or only half-full, like she planned on putting more in them. She had a larger book with a blue green hard cover, and golden letters typed or written out in her lap. Ruby was just staring at, as if reminiscing. When she heard footsteps approaching, she looked up and smiled at Kira.

Kira hadn't heard Chaos since she was already upstairs in Ruby's room. She gently knocked on the door and pushed it open, finding Ruby sitting on her bed. "Hey," she said, cheerily. "You need any help?" She walked over to where Ruby was sitting, and saw that she was looking at a hardcover book in her hands. "What's that?" she asked.

Kayo, however, hadn't let Chaos' sudden attempt to stop Kira go unnoticed. That, coupled with Chaos' new-found unsure attitude told Kayo that something was up. Kayo sighed. "Just lay it on the table man," he said."We're going to be living together for a while after all. Plus, you took the Kira-and-I-breaking-in-here thing pretty well. How bad could this be?" He chuckled weakly, in spite of himself.

Ruby shook her head lightly at Kira's offer, then glanced back at the book in her lap. "This is a book about potion making, and some other things.. My father wrote it before I was born. I don't know much about him- but I know he was..or is..a powerful Reaper like Lord Shinigami." Ruby spoke, not noticing the tears that had gathered in the corner of her eyes. "He could help Chaos more than I ever could.." She murmured quietly. When she did notice the tears, she quickly wiped them away. Truth was, she didn't even know if he was still alive. This book was most of what she had of him.

Chaos mentally loathed the rhetorical question that came out of Kayo's mouth. "How bad could it be?" That actually made it harder to tell him. After a moment, he stared at Kayo. "It has to stay between us, for now. You can explain it to Kira later.." He murmured in a low voice. "Ruby has a touch of lunacy in her veins- sort of like Prof. Stein, only it's a lot more controlled- which makes it more dangerous. Her sanity's been teetering since late last night, and I'm guessing it's because of Delia. I only know because I can feel it." He spoke quietly so the girls wouldn't hear him, and he raised a hand to wear his chest was. "I was created to match her wave length no matter how much her lunacy had the best of her, or to balance her out- or both.." Taking a moment to let the information sink in, he sat in the chair beside him.

(pssst~ Delia might secretly become apart of the school staff, like medusa does- that okay?)

Kira listened to Ruby's words, comprehension dawning on her face the more Ruby spoke. Potion-making? A Shinigami? Ruby's father was really a Death God? But wouldn't that make Ruby....? But Kira shook those thoughts away for the moment, for there was something more important at hand. She moved close to her friend and sat down next to her, gently putting a hand on the other's shoulder. "Ruby... is that the reason why you wanted to leave Shibusen to go looking for your father?" she asked. "For Chaos?"

Kayo's slight smile faded the more Kayo spoke. When the other was done, Kayo remained silent for a bit, trying to process the information just given to him. He kept on standing while Chaos sat down, and, for a while, looked up the stairs, imagining Ruby in her room. All this time, she'd been battling lunacy and he, Kayo, and Kira had never known. After a rather long silence, he spoke. "I won't tell Kira about this," he said, slowly, still looking up the stairs. "You and Ruby can figure out whether she wants to tell Kira herself, and when she wants to do it. You'll need to let her know that I know now, but I won't bring it up until and unless she does." He paused, looking back at his friend. "But, if anything happens, anything at all, you'll call Kira and me for help. Deal?"

Ruby hadn't really realized it herself, until Kira confirmed her own feelings- despite her lunacy. That was the reason..wasn't it..? It made since now that she could think straight. She still felt guilty for snapping at her best friend.. Her ruby eyes settled on the hard cover in her hands for a moment. She couldn't think of anything to say, to confirm or deny the answer to Kira's question. "Kira.." She murmured quietly after a short pause. "Can I.. be alone, for a minute..?" She asked her friend. Ruby didn't want Kira feeling like she didn't want her around..she just needed some..space before she cracked again. And she didn't want to take it out on her friend..again.

Chaos figured it would be hard for him to process, but he didn't think it would get the reaction it did. He was actually, kind of, expecting more? Nevertheless. Chaos smirked and nodded his head, holding up a fist like they did sometimes when making a 'promise'. "Deal." Chaos said, then he lowered his hand and stood. "Well- we should probably get to work. This place isn't going to pack itself." He said, still planning on taking his friends out once it was finished.

Kayo raised his fist and bumped it against Chaos's before the two of them set to work.
"So, any fragile items I need to watch out for?" he asked.

Kira heard her friend ask for some space. She got up from the bed. She turned for a second, almost about to ask Ruby if she was okay,
but then decided against it and smiled. "Call me if you need anything," she said and walked out.

Chaos thought for a moment, then shook his head. "Nah, unless you count books as fragile." He said with a smirk, hoping Kayo would catch the joke. Kira and Ruby loved their books- but not nearly as much as a 'book fanatic' which sometimes leads to students or people into treating their books and other study materials as 'precious' or 'baby'. People like that- had no life outside of books.

Ruby nodded to her friend as she was left to her own. She put the book aside, and closed her eyes for a moment to block everything out and sort of meditate to keep from losing her marbles.

((don't get me wrong, my books are precious >< it's just a little joke about stereo-typical 'nerds' or whathaveyou ^^'))

Kayo chuckled a little, remembering how careful the girls were with their books. He picked up a few that were lying outside and put them inside a box. "Let's treat these with care, just in case," he said, smiling at Chaos.

Kira was worried. There were no two ways of saying it. Her friend was acting really off today and she had no idea why. She sat down on the floor a couple feet away from Ruby's door. Just in case Ruby needed her, she'd be able to rush in.

Chaos chuckled and started picking up around the living room, sorting thing and putting things in boxes. He really didn't want to mess with Ruby's books. So he focused on packing up the smaller things they had.

Ruby just sat in her room, meditating in her space of silence.. A twisted, defaced, image ran through her head, which tore her from her state of tranquility she had momentarily achieved, and instantly lost control of her chains as they sprawled out sporadically through the air around her, frenzied.
