It still makes me furious every time I hear about someone who actually thinks there is any kind of correlation between autism and vaccines, nearly to the point of fury exploding out of my eyes.
My future kids will be fully vaccinated. If any of my siblings start thinking that they don't want to vaccinate their future kids, our mother has already promised to kidnap the theoretical children and get them their vaccinations.
My boss likes to tell a story about how a few years ago, a woman from her church died from getting a flu shot. Is it possible that this happened? Yes, theoretically. Do I believe for a second that my boss isn't exaggerating or leaving out something important to the story (maybe the woman had an aneurysm)? No, I don't. My boss has no understanding of how medicine or science work.

This is actually a very interesting topic for me, because I'm not vaccinated, not because of any fear of vaccines themselves, but because my sister was allergic and almost died with her first vaccine, and after some bloodworks they found out that that could have been the case for me too, so I only got a tetanus shot (because I needed it and it wasn't high risk, or at least hat's what I remember), but that's it.
This means that both me and my sister are very vulnerable and an eventual decrease in vaccines could be very dangerous for us, especially because we both have other separate conditions. Luckily here in Italy pretty much every one (or at least everyone I know) is vaccinated. I've only ever heard a few people criticize vaccines and mostly referring to the less important ones (like flu) and I only heard about the autism-vaccines link from people disproving it, never really found anyone who believes in it.
Luckily (and I think mostly because most people are vaccinated) I have never been seriously sick (except for strong seasonal flu or streptococcus but that's a different story) and I was even able to travel a lot without problems.
So yes I think everybody who can should get vaccinated, mostly for their own protection, but I also think that there is a limit to how many unnecessary ones you should get, I wouldn't get a flu shot every year especcially if I was older and with a more fragile body, but since I don't take shots and don't have kids that could, I'm not really that informed about it...

Vaccinations have literally saved humanity? We eradicated polio (though I hear it's making a resurgence).
It comes down to ignorance. That word is used as a negative often and I want to stress that I mean it for it's literal use. People are unaware as to how vaccines operate, and the different kinds, and therefore are easy to scare into avoiding them.
We need vaccines. There are going to be people who can't, who react poorly, are too old/young/sick, etc... but they likely don't make up a huge amount of the population. The rest of us need to vaccination for those people, too.
Vaccines are pretty simple. You introduce a small amount of the antigen (the virus/bacteria/etc) and your body learns it's "shape", and creates antibodies (these fight the antigens). It's a process for your body to learn the antibody shape but once it does, it will remember it. Next time that antigen enters your body, you will produce the antibodies at a much faster rate than if it were the first time they were meeting the antigens. So you can fight it faster and more effectively, before it does a dangerous amount of damage. This is why people feel a bit sick after getting a flu shot.
I understand why people avoid it, though (the flu shot). I get it every year because I tend to get really sick otherwise. I'm also going into healthcare so I feel like it's irresponsible for me not to get it.
Also, it's important to note that being vaccinated against something does /not/ mean you can't be a carrier. That's why anyone who can should vaccinate. You can still spread illness.
IT'S ALSO IMPORTANT TO VACCINATE YOUR PETS. Especially when they are young. There are quite a few you should be giving your puppy in the first year. Just as a sidenote. Protect your pups.

As others have stated, herd immunity works when the majority of the "herd" is immunized.
My thoughts on this: Unless there is a legitimate medical reason not to, vaccinate yourself and your kids.
Also, if you think vaccinations cause autism*, I have some VERY choice words for you, none of which are proper for a forum.
*Spoiler alert: THEY DON'T. And if you think having an autistic kid is worse than having one who died from a preventable disease, you are a terrible person, and shouldn't be allowed to have kids, imo.

i think its ignorant and bad parenting to not allow your kids to get injections, we have them for a reason, they work, your only allowing your child to suffer if you don't get it done. if they didn't work we wouldn't have them
