This was intended to be a novel or novella, not a short story. But I got started writing and ran out of juice and it's been sitting since. I don't know where to go with it, or how to progress.

And in the world of that story, noble androids are named after Deity's, Mythology, or Celestial objects, Aether is a Greek God of Pure Air, the air that Gods and Goddesses breathe, not normal air that humans breathe, though I made he a she and I feel her personality comes across very well, being stuck up and egotistical and Andromeda is the daughter of a goddess and is the most beautiful woman, ever. So much that Poseidon got jealous and started attacking her home village, where she was to be sacrificed to Poseidon to appease him, but she was rescued by Perseus~

Mae, during her college years, goes off for her thesis to study the humans and starts interacting with one and falls in love, then she sets out to stop the brutality against humans and end the human hunts. That the humans are actually the creators of androids many thousands of years ago... but the other androids don't believe it because present humans aren't that smart to join together in a civilized society, let alone create an AI of their level. Mae ends up becoming a martyr and is killed as a human lover, then Aether, who has an epiphany and begins to understand Mae, instead of hating her, takes up her cause and starts to change society to be nicer to humans.
I imagined it being told like the Princess Bride, actually~
