It takes too long at beginning, yes. But once you have functional items it's all gone. But new users doesn't know that probably. Getting old items was always a issue, i think i mentioned that once i proposed new food sinks. Like something to throw fp into with even extremely low, but still, a chance to get some older items.

I used to have signature like you, and then I got PM from the Firn.

A site held raffle might be a good idea, I think? I know Firn did put mt items on the market a few times but I think not enough users (especially new ones ofc) knew or caught the auction on time.

Honestly if I started today I probably wouldn't stay. It took me months when I did start (I came in and set up an account, couldn't be bothered to grind fp, left, then came back later and finally managed to get a knuffel). Now it would be just as hard, and I wouldn't be able to get probably 90% of the items that would be on my wishlist (which is long enough as it is even with having been here this whole time). So then I would get disheartened like you say and leave.

For people that do want to collect and own a lot of different items the lack of older items in circulation can be really disheartening yeah :c

These days new users can get fp a lot quicker than before when starting, but it doesn't change the fact that with less older users so are there way less older items that they feel they can really obtain. If 50% of older items (dare I say 90% of 'really' older items) just aren't even around anymore for anyone to get, I think a lot of new users get a sort of 'why bother' mentality :/

items just aren't really circulating as much here as on other sites I think.

I'd like to claim my one FC slot! :qg:

I think getting items is still difficult, despite the functional items (speaking as someone who was a newbie but who also benefited from functional items.)
Because, with the coming of functional items, inflation also took place. So things are still pretty unattainable. Look at FC prices when they go on the market, for example. A new user would see an FC going for a million food and feel disheartened, of course they would.

And there are definitely fewer sales of old items. Most of the time, if old items are being sold on the market, it's for FC. And FC are difficult to attain with food, and people who donate are faced with the dilemma of spending it on the numerous TT sets or on old items. Prices on the market aren't reasonable anymore (this is just my opinion).

There have been a few ways to get TT items, like AliceON's shop and the Fairy Coin Charity, but they aren't able to run always, or they too run out of funds. And there aren't that many of them around. Even if someone wanted to start something else along their lines, if they can barely get FC for their own personal quests leave alone get more or pool from others, there's no way for them to do it. And how can they expect other users to pool, when so few are able to donate, and things have gotten expensive to the point that items that could be bought for food on the market before are now being sold for FC, and there are so many other things to get with FC besides?

Sorry for being all doom and gloom in here. Doki, what you're doing is great, with people able to buy old items from you at reasonable food prices, and FC too :qh: I just don't know what can be done site-wide to make items attainable. I'm not a new user, but while I have the means to buy old items now, it's for old items at old prices. If my situation were the same now as when I was a newbie, I'd probably quit too; many of my hiatuses were for the reason that I couldn't justify the time I was spending here with what I got out of it, while having a hectic offline life. But the way things are now... I actually don't think my rate of item acquisition has changed much from the days I used to play Memory religiously everyday and edit the polls in my own threads so that I could get food from them after answering all others' polls. I have a LOT of Lava Lamps now, yet the difference in my means of acquiring old items, TTs and FCs... isn't much.

Trade sent Mynah! c:

And yeah I also think the issue is site-wide, not much a single person can do about it. Definitely not for long term or really on a high input level. I think kofk is kind of stuck in a rut/cycle that's hard to get out of :x

It's sad because the longer it continues like this, the less likely it is that a solution will be possible.

Same. I feel like things could have been turned around a long time ago but things weren't changed back then and now it has gone a loooong way down this road.

yeah. even someone who is able to buy most of the TT sets released nowadays, probably wouldn't be able to afford multiples to sell. rather, people buy TTs they don't really want and send the individual items of the set for an FC each, effectively making a profit over their one FC investment.
