Please also note that Kiihay herself had been quite civil about this. Distraught, understandably, but civil. I've been talking with her on PM (the short times that I am online while writing this paper), and she is hurt herself by this drama, and doesn't want people hating her because of voicing her beliefs.

On a related note, Jedec and Norala, please reconsider your strategy next time. If you were a bit more discrete about this, perhaps saying "entries # such and such are very similar, and I think it might be too similar to be coincidental", then there are no names named, and no fingers pointed, and this mob-mentality as Mikael aptly pointed out would not have happened. Instead, you assumed that a) it is undeniable fact that someone had plagiarized; b) the perpetrator is M o i and the victim Kiihay; and c) the staff turned blind-eye despite knowing just because it was a staff member. That's a harsh accusation, and of course people are going to react negatively to it. I reacted negatively to it. I understand you're trying to help your friend or trying to get justice done on something you see as unfair, but this is not helping anyone. You are closing people's minds before they could even consider this and I'm seeing a lot of hatred directed at Kiihay even though she went about this as civilized as could be expected in the situation, in my opinion. Please think whether this would be hurting the person you are protecting before acting next time, please.

Why not introduce a new rule in the contest: all claims for work must be brought only before the vote. If the claim is justified then the offender is automatically eliminated from the competition, if the claim is in no way justified, then eliminated the one who made a claim.
If the claim is presented during the voting, then this claim is seen as an attempt to influence the vote, and the bearer of a claim is removed from the tournament for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Like already mentioned earlier there can easily be similarities because of the same base. I don't think that you could ever be sure about something like that...

I understand all this, but agreed that this rule would have spared us from such scandals. I do not accept this claim other than the very attempt to influence the vote.

All right guys, Not more talking about this, what said is said and what done is done. So there is no point in talking about this more and beating it to the ground.

We might as well enjoy the rest of this contest while its still here because there is not going to be another one. I rather forget that this stuff happened.

Even if there was a rule in place, it wouldn't stop people from posting or voicing out. In addition, imagine if it was an actual case of theft. The outcome of having that rule in place would not be a pleasant one. In fact, there shouldn't even be a rule about it in the first place, it's common sense and common art ethics.

The situation here isn't about art theft or not, it's about how the claim was handled. Like others already mentioned, it could have been done sensibly and privately without bringing all these problems and unpleasantness with it.

That said, I really enjoyed this contest. It helped bring out my drawing streak again, as I was in a bit of a slump before the contest.
I was avoiding posting in here as Firn requested for the topic to be dropped, so this would be my first and last post in here about this issue.

Wow, so much uproar over something that should have been dealt with the 2 artists and Firn and thinking of the title being "Round One", i can only assume there might more to choose from or deciding which tied knuffel should win...

Can you give users some credit here, there are some of us who vote purely for what we like from sight (which i and most people in here do!), to vote for artist alone is rather silly if you don't like the art they made and to be frank, i like both of the knuffels, both unique and cute =^o^=

No rule is needed and artists/mods or other people in admin positions should be given the chance to explore their artistic side in them, why not...be spoiled by their artistic flare...i just hope Moi is doing ok, she hasn't been in best of spirits last time i was here...

Firn i might change my vote, not cause of this argeing, but there was another that i liked better than my second choice =^o^= so sorry about that, i should have checked it before i submitted my vote...

I do hope there will be another one, i want to join in on that one!
