From The Book of Questions by Gregory Stock.
Question #99: You are driving late at night in a safe but deserted neighborhood when a dog suddenly darts in front of your car. Though you slam on the brakes, you hit the animal. Would you stop to see how injured the animal was? If you did so and found that the dog was dead but had a name tag, would you contact the owner?

I would stop and immediately check the dog. If the dog did die but had an owner to contact, I would be an absolute mess because the dog was dead, but I would still call the owner and apologize.

I would definitely stop too and would contact the owner.

Oh this one is really sad :(
I'd definitely stop, and if the worst happened I'd have to call the owners.

A truly good person would kill themselves driving off the road to save the dog.

I've actually had this happen only the dog, thankfully, didn't die. I immediately checked on the dog and went to the nearest house (it turned out to be their dog) and told them about their dog. I told them how sorry I was and they were very kind about it. I even took the dog a toy a few days later. I believe they kept their dog put up from then on like they should have done in the first place.

I would be a total wreck, call the owners, and probably never want to drive again.

I couldn't live with myself if I didn't check on him.
