I myself am not such a fan of Miyazaki. Sure, the animation is amazing, and the drawings are quite pretty. However, I always feel that the stories are somewhat lacking. Not to mention the fact that other than Chihiro from Spirited Away, I find it hard to distinguish one main female character to the next. They all seem to sport the same face.
I had such complaint about Spirited Away. I found the story line hard to follow and incomplete. For example, what's with her hairband? There was a scene on how everyone helped make it so me and my friends figured it'd play a big role in the story, yet it did nothing. So we were sure there were going to be a sequel in which the hair band does something, yet to this date I'm not aware of any such sequels.
No; Miyazaki's works are not for me. I think I'd enjoy it more if I turned the sub off and sound muted and just enjoyed the moving pictures.

I love Studio Ghibli stuff, but I haven't seen enough of the movies. The first I saw was Kiki's Delivery Service when I was a kid. When I was in middle school, I bought Princess Mononoke and started getting really into Miyazaki's stuff. I currently own Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirtited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. I plan to buy every one I can find eventually. I think they'll be great for my daughter to grow up with.
