Not sure if those are a thing in all of Europe, but good to know :P

I do tend to go by train or plane for my international travels. I love going by plane ~

I admit lately there are the transportation options that I like, and there are the transportation options that I can afford, and the two aren't typically the same.

Ha I feel that! I tend to cheapskate on things like the ride to a vacation location so I have had my share of horror stories c':

Wow, it is kind of amazing how much these life experiences vary depending on where you live! Like Popodoki, I have a hard time imagining not riding trains at all. It's my main method of transportation :D

What's your issue with flixbus? I think I've used them once or twice and it was fine? Took a long time, but yeah, a lot cheaper than the train would have been...

Where I live is definitely one of those places where it's hard to function without a car. Everything is super far away from everything else and public transport isn't great. I mean, you could walk if you were decently healthy but the road is crazy so you run risk of getting run over. And the public transport in the city is much better. There are even some free busses, which is nice.

Americans are so used to everything being so far away when in Europe like...

US ppl would drive 1h+ to go out for dinner
me I drive 1h and I'm in a different country

I've driven with Flixbus twice and both times had a bad exp c':
part of that was the other passengers and partly it was bad customer service, bad organisation etc

it is like 1/4th of the train price tho so it is to be expected imo

I used to live in a small town, but this year I moved to a big city and trains are the main mode of transportation! Totally blew my mind how big everything is. Definitely used to walking or bussing places, but I love it here :sflw:

That is soo strange to me. I've thought about this before and it's hard to imagine because I live in Australia. I've gone on holidays before where we drove 4+ hours and didn't even leave the state. And school camps where we drove for 7+ hours to get to the next state. One time we even drove 16+ hours to get to our destination, although, no matter how long we drive, it's not possible to even leave the country :mclaugh:

Oh! You're in Australia? Do you keep bees or know any beekeepers there? I'm curious if you guys are having the trouble with varroa mites like we are here, or if the island ecology has kept them out successfully.

I haven't heard of any problem with our bees :mcconf: but we did have a MAAAAJOR strawberry problem. Someone found sewing needles in their strawberries, so truck loads of strawberries are getting dumped out. It's really really sad actually :mcgloom: how a couple of needles have caused so much damage.
